Grill'd Norwood — Restaurant in Adelaide

Arrived a little late on a Tuesday night at about 9pm and made it just in time for them to offer us a table to dine in otherwise it's only take away for another 10 or so minutes. As I was waiting at the counter to order, a group of about 5 or 6 arrived and I noticed the kitchen staff signaling to their coworker at the door to turn them away. They had a grin and smirk on their face as if to indicate they knew that they shouldn't be doing this but were cheeky enough to do it anyway. They didn't seem to care that this was done right in full view of myself and two others waiting in line at the counter.

This worried me because I was about to order and thus force them to make me a burger when it was clear they were not that keen to do any more flipping of burgers for the night. I grabbed some soft drinks from the fridge but they were warm after a recent restock so I had to grab others instead. The herb infused chips were nice and were hot and fresh but I can't say the same about our burgers. 12 bucks for a luke warm beef burger and two Luke warm chicken burgers at around 12 bucks each also.

I presume that in their haste to wind up for the night the kitchen staff didn't really give my beef burger and my friend's chicken fillets enough time to heat up properly. I've since found out that they don't cook their burgers/patties fresh but they cook them up on a designated day during the week and then freeze them and then thaw them out when required. To make matters worse at the 9:30 mark we were told that we had to be out by 9:45. Even though we were near finishing by then this just sent the message that they didn't really appreciate having us there. I guess that's what you get when you hire disinterested teens who get paid the same rate regardless of how many customers they serve. They just didn't care which is unfortunately typical of many at their age.

Like many of these 'gourmet' burger chains that are popping up everywhere this is just a glorified junk food parlor not that different to Maccas or Hungry Jacks. Except that you pay 50% more in price and have the option of eating their burgers with a knife and fork. I won't be going back and don't recommend it. Despite the 'gourmet' facade, nice decor and that "community contribution thing" they promote, customers should resist this kind of gimmickry and not assume these places are any better than a McDonalds or Hungry Jacks. In my opinion the fact that they assume this facade of being a healthier and "gourmet" option when in reality there is little to distinguish the quality of their product from the more well known hamburger places...

Average food and terrible service. We had a large booking of 25 people which was made weeks in advance. We all ordered straight away and ended up waiting two hours for all of our meals to be received. After I queried why people who ordered last were getting their meals first, I was advised there had been a glitch in the system and two pages of orders had been skipped. One waitress was helpful and apologetic, the rest were walking around aimlessly. Some burgers were brought out and then people were left to wait 40 more minutes for a small chips when the burger and chips were ordered together. When I advised one of the waitors of this his response was 'yeah they take a while'. Having worked in hospitality for 10+ years, I know that chips take less than 5 minutes to deep fry and add seasoning - not an hour and a half. When we did get some of the burgers after waiting an hour and a half, they were lukewarm and the buns were soggy - we could see them waiting on the pass for someone to take out for 20+ minutes. When the last burger was brought out, staff said 'I'm not sure if this is yours, did you get no avocado'. The guest said she did get avocado and so the burger was taken back to be remade, having already waited an hour and a half, this was absolutely not good enough. It wasn't a particularly busy night and I could see lots of other people complaining about the wait time on food. I understand that mistakes/accidents happen but other than one waitress (who did a great job), staff were not apologetic and very unhelpful. On top of that, the food was absolutely average. The food is delicious, and relatively healthy too. Sadly this is where the good bits of the review end. Every time I place an order for pick up the estimated time is grossly wrong. Like seriously abundantly wrong. 3 or 4 times now I've arrived late to pick up my order and it isn't ready despite the app saying it was ready already. And I watch scores of delivery drivers come and go, picking up in front of me, so many that I wonder if they prioritise them over me. 'You're next' they tell me, then give orders to 5 more delivery drivers. 20+ minutes after my order was due and after telling me the order is next about three times, finally it arrives. And it is delicious, this needs to be said. This has happened EVERY, SINGLE, time, it's not just once or twice. I mean if you're busy I can understand that but fix your pick up app to give accurate estimates so people can choose whether they want to wait and where to wait, don't waste my time, I don't have 30 to 40 minutes to wait for a...
