If you're looking for a warm and hearty meal at the Adelaide Central Markets, then look no further than Le Souk, serving a variety of Algerian cuisine 🇩🇿
Having won awards at the Adelaide Royal Show and ranked a 2020 TripAdvisor's Traveller's Choice Winner (i.e. ranked in the top 10% of restaurants worldwide), I see why Le Souk deserves its awards 🏆🦉
There is seating at the table booths and external seating around Le Souk.
The first time I passed Le Souk, Azou (the owner) asked me if I would like to date him, which weirded me (as I initially thought he was a random passerby), but in his hand was a bowl full of fruit dates and tongs in his other hand. He gave me a fruit date. Turns out that he approaches customers too, with his date puns. I think it's an effective way to attract customers, because that will be my most memorable part of Le Souk, and Azou is friendly too. The date was really sweet and nice.
I returned to Le Souk after walking around the entire market, for brunch (not because of the dates), where I was greeted warmly by the lady cooking the paellas and Azou.
I ordered a large chicken paella for $18.70 ($18.50 + $0.20 card surcharge 💳), which was immediately served hot in a large plastic bowl 🥘
The first bite was amazing. The flavours blended well. The chicken and rice was soft. The portion was huge. Azou offered me another fruit date, which paired well with the paella. Overall, the meal was incredibly satisfying and evoked a homeliness feeling 🏠
I highly recommend eating at Le Souk to anyone who goes to the Adelaide Central Markets; it was my most favourite meal in Adelaide.
Be prepared, for Azou has many date puns up his sleeve 👔
Thank you Le Souk for a delicious paella and good dining...
Read moreHaving never been able to eat paella, due to the normal ingredients, I asked if I could try a small spoonful of the vegan option as the lunch serving size was rather large. Given the friendly nature of marketplaces I did not think this would be offensive. The owner did begrudgingly agree whilst making his disapproval very clear. I would never have asked if I thought it would elicit such a response. My partner ordered two paella, one chicken, one vegan, for our lunch. They were quite nice. We went back later to potentially buy some spice blend mix. The owner asked me if I could read. And then asked me to read out a couple of signs saying how great his food was. He went on to name drop people who had eaten his food. His manner was INCREDIBLY patronizing, arrogant and misogynistic. We left in absolute disgust! I have never ever left such a review before. However, the utter rudeness displayed by the owner has forced my hand. The food was fine. Award- worthy? Probably not, but nice for a casual lunch at a market. The lack of professionalism and manner from the owner, on the other hand, guaranteed that I he has permanently lost at least two customers and any possibly...

But I think the owner is too “service from the surface”:I asked my chai for less sweet level like 30% sweet, and he told me he would not put any suger inside. When he gave it to me,he said it would be the most special chai I ever had. 1,it was mot special to me,I was in India for one month 2,it was still very sweet,I though it would be not sweet any more, but I even could see the un-melting sweetness stuff on the cup bottom, maybe thats not sugar, but should be honey or anything sweet and has calorie…

I came here for the Chakchouka~and it did like my imagination, just a little oilly for me~I could feel the spice inside, but with a little more salt is more delocious. I was good, but not deserve to come on purpose. If u like baked egg as me,u will like it I think.
