This cafe is unique. Food great, coffee great, street cafe vibe amazing. Janetto the owner is unique… even if you are unsure about this guy you will still be a customer, as he is impossible to resist. Love him or not and his unorthodox business model you cannot help but to return time and again for the great coffee, delicious food, and expect and receive a tongue lashing which attracts more than it repels. In fact it is the anticipation of the of the engagement that is the draw card here. Expect the unexpected. What a great business model of hard truths/lively/witty and risqué conversation, good coffee/fantastic food/a variety of people of generations from all walks of life.

If Love Janetto you will be here every opportunity you can, if you only love his coffee and food you will soon fall in love with Janetto and be a customer for life. If I lived in Adelaide I would go to the Queen of Tarts every day I possibly could as it makes me a happier, a more authentic, and chilled person. Thank you Janetto for just enhancing our stay in our AIRBNB just off Hutt Street.

We had brunch here the other day, expecting a good experience judging by previous reviews. In fact we had a fantastic time! As a retired chef I can say that the pastries are excellent. It’s clear that years of experience have gone into their making, and the fillings are made from premium quality ingredients. I’m still dreaming of the chicken pie! After tasting every single one of the fine tarts and sweet pastries available (8 in all - please note our dedication!) we voted the chocolate and lemon tarts at top place, but there was some fierce competition. But the star of the show was our host. Hilariously funny, witty, poignant and at times wearing his beautiful heart on his sleeve, we were regaled with stories, jokes and experiences that touched our hearts and made our day. The Jewel in Hutt Street's Crown. What a gem! Top notch food and coffee with plenty of "oomph" served with a smile (and a wink sometimes, if he likes you). The only thing warmer than the coffee and the pastries is the hospitality of the man serving them to you. The food is homely, rich, without being heavy or stodgy. Just the thing you need on a winter's day. And in summer the tables out on the street provide the perfect vantage point to sit and watch the world go by. The place, much like the owner, have a way of being quirky while making you feel totally at ease.
