I recently had a meal at Sunmi’s, and let me tell you, it was a real mix of good and not-so-good stuff. The Bibimbap was bloody tasty, and I mean it, it was delicious. But the Chicken teriyaki kimbap was a bit dry, which was a bummer, where the chicken Teriyaki was as hard as a rock; I couldn't believe it.
Now, the Mung Bean Pancake with the sauce was the bomb! Seriously, it was so yummy. But the Bulgogi, which is another classic Korean dish, was hit and miss. Some of the meat was perfect, but some parts were overcooked.
I have to give props to the service though; it was lightning-fast. Orders were taken in a jiffy, and the food came out super quick, which is always a good thing.
So, to sum it up, this place has some real winners like the Bibimbap and the Mung Bean Pancake. But the Kimbap and Chicken Teriyaki need some work. The Bulgogi is decent, but they need to get the meat right. If you're after fast service, good price, and don't mind a bit of a culinary rollercoaster, give it...
Read moreAfter studying the previous reviews for a whole night, i ordered the most popular bibimbap and mung bean pancake. The order was successful 🫰. The pancake was pre-made and stacked behind the glass cabinetry. But luckily it was warm and still has a thin crispy crust. The interior was fluffy and full of bean shoots. I was not sure what flour was used for making batter, but the flavour and texture was on point. It served with chicken source, on the sweet side. $3 per each. It is really hard to find bibimbap not taste good, because essentially it’s just white rice with blanched vegetables mixed with a fried egg and source. The best part is that there was a huge bottle of sauce for self service. You can add as much as you like. The price is food went up so much. The central market still introduced the bibimbap for $8-$10 per serve, but the actual price was $12. Considering what you have in the bowl, I think it is very overpriced. The food I ordered is enough for one person (a medium size...
Read moreI was craving kimchi jjigae today, so I headed to this place at the Central Market and ordered it. Having tried kimchi jjigae at many locations, including in Australia and South Korea, I was disappointed with what I received here. Ideally, kimchi jjigae should offer a harmonious blend of savory, tangy, and spicy flavors without being overly sweet or inconsistently sour. Unfortunately, the dish I received did not meet these expectations. Each spoonful seemed to vary in taste—one was too sugary, and the next too sour, which was quite off-putting. Ultimately, I couldn't finish it and had to leave it as is. $17...
