###DISGUSTING RACISM##### I am utterly disgusted by the blatant racism my friend and I experienced at Woolshed Night Club last Saturday evening. As brown-skinned people, we were targeted and refused entry by a slim, tall security guard who seemed to be looking for any excuse to turn us away. He had been observing us multiple times, walking back and forth as we stood in line, clearly searching for a reason to deny us. Eventually, he approached us and claimed it was a "management decision" and that he couldn't do anything about it. To justify this he brought out lame excuses and even brought up the fact that we might drink too much, despite me not consuming alcohol at all. All we wanted to do was dance and enjoy ourselves.
What makes this even more desperate is that right after we were turned away, a group of white people behind us was allowed to continue into the club without any issues. Others in the queue were looking at us like we'd done something wrong. Is this the way how you treat people Woolshed?
If Woolshed wants to cater exclusively to white people, maybe they should make it clear on the outside of their establishment. As we left, I saw this same thing happening to three other people with skin tones similar to ours. It's undeniable—this was pure racism.
Whoever is responsible for this disgusting behavior, whether it's the management or the security staff, should be deeply ashamed. It's appalling that in 2024, such a backward, poor, and illiterate mindset still exists. Woolshed, you need...
Read moreTonight I went to the woolshed for my friends western themed birthday. I was dancing on the first floor near the entrance, next to a security guard. A woman dressed in white came up to me saying she was his girlfriend. I stated I had a boyfriend, was not interested, and was simply dancing with my friends. When I moved forward to avoid dancing near the security guard, I was pushed and had my cowboy hat flipped off (the only people behind me were the body guard, his girlfriend and her friend). I asked who did this and the security guards girlfriend said, "he did it". I was extremely agitated that a licensed employee would behave in this manner. After informing my friends, I confronted him stating: "it's not alright to treat patrons in this way, and if it was your girlfriend pushing me and tipping my hat , she shouldn't be interfering with your work and harrasing patrons ". The security guard became very defensive and stated "do you want to be removed from the premises" . Which I stupidly said, "well yes if this is how you treat your customers" . I then willingly left the premises. I'm just upset that a place I once enjoyed visiting frequently was tainted by such a bad experience and such a bad employee. I believe the business owners should know that an employees personal life is negatively impacting their business as I will not be...
Read moreThe service and drinks are reasonable, by all means go and grab a drink and enjoy the wonderful balcony view. But I feel compelled to share the story of the time my friend slipped on drinks which were spilled and not cleaned, my friend, not someone who frequents the night club scene was having a birthday celebration with her mother. She slipped on some drinks which had not been cleaned up, put her hand down and subsequently broke 7 bones in her hand. At the time she was leaving the nightclub with her mother, she then was asked to "move along because you are blocking the entry". My friend then requested that the woolshed might call for emergency assistance, instead they demanded that she move along, so she proceeded to find a recovery place in the curb beneath the woolshed, at which stage the patrons on the balcony proceeded to pour drinks on my friend. Pity the patrons would behave in such a manner, but one would at least expect the security would restrain the balcony folk, but no, they told my friend she needs to move along. My friend ended up spending 6 days in hospital and could have sued the living pants of this institution. I myself have had many an enjoyable night at such institutions, but I would warn all that the you shall receive as close to zero support when push...
