Food and vibe was pretty good, although the $1 surcharge for using my eftpos (NOT credit) card to pay for our meals left a bitter taste... When I questioned the bar staff they couldn't tell me why, so I assumed it was some sort of cash grab by the owner. I then questioned it on their Facebook account only to have their manager respond rudely with "don't use your card then!", before blocking me. I'd like to know who in this day and age goes out for a meal with enough cash to cover several meals and drinks? Clearly, this $1 surcharge is a nice little kicker for the establishment at the end of every week and also violates EFTPOS's terms of service. One wonders how many other dodgy things go...
Read moreSensational little venue tucked away on Todd Street within an easy stroll from the mall and council gardens. Great selection of craft beers, wines, and spirits. The food is to die for - try the Chicken Mesquite and thank them after.
For me, the real attraction is the music and entertainment. Live, original music featuring local and touring artists, Sunday sessions with pumping bangers provided by local community radio 102.1FM 8CCC fortnightly, trivia on Thursdays, and all manner of other events, many with a Spanish flavour (as the name Monte's suggests).

Long benches in the outdoor area as well as more seating inside. Go up to the bar and order your meals and drinks and the friendly staff will bring it out to your table. You have to try the battered chips! Located close to town centre and major hotels. Cash and cards. People with mobility issues will be fine as it is all on one level, however a smaller indoor table is probably a better option that the tall benches...
