As out of state visitors we were excited to enjoy a nice breakfast at a place that was very breathtaking along the foreshore. On approaching the waiter at the front door, we stated we wished to sit and have a meal, he pointed to a table near some people with dogs. My wife stated she would prefer to not sit near dogs. The waiter made a tisking noise and gave a look a distane. He then pointed to another table. I went to the front counter and placed my order for two eggs on toast with sides of bacon and a cup of tea and a flat white coffee. (The coffee was in a thimble and the tea was so weak it was like dish washing water.) This cost $55. That was the end of our service, even though it was served quickly and the bacon and eggs were nice, their was no service. I had to find my own sugar for example and didn't bother looking for sauce. While right next to us were two young women who appeared to be influencers, the staff were bending over backwards putting flowers on their table. Three different staff attended to them almost every minute. It was off putting and insulting to us who had just paid $55. For what??? We couldn't get out of there quick enough, I have never felt so undervalued and invisible. It was the height of rudeness and totally unprofessional. Not a good first impression of Geelong. Avoid the place unless you are young influencers discussing needing a 'Sugar Daddy'. What a shame. As it was my birthday and my wife wanted me to enjoy a...
Read moreWanted to have a sit down breakfast here on a Sunday. Didn't have a booking but saw there were plenty of tables. Waited like 5 minutes for any of the staff to notice we were there, despite walking by the 'please wait to be seated' sign where we were standing. Someone eventually said 'be with you in like 2 mins, just catching up' (Red flag 1).
Sat down, and then was just left there for another 5 or so minutes, no menu, cutlery, water etc. Table next to us got water and cutlery within seconds of sitting down, so just assumed they forgot about us (Red flag 2).
Eventually decided to just order via the QR code. Food came out for me and we still didn't have anything else for the table, so had to ask for the basics. 20 minutes had passed since we ordered and the other meal had still not come out, even though it was ordered 'from the display'. I ended up asking about it at the counter and was told, 'oh the chicken sandwich, yeah sorry we ran out of those and I haven't been able to go out and say it yet'. ?????? (Red flag 3)
Realised afterwards that on the invoice/receipt, it mentioned how the item was refunded. Ordering system allows you to buy out of stock items.
To the owner, get more staff. This all could have been avoided had you had 2-3 more staff on, rather than stretching them that thin they can't get to the simple tasks.
Cafe would be out of business in a week if they were located anywhere else. Won't...
Read moreThe Pavilion has so much potential to be the best place in Geelong, yet our experience with a table of 8 was pretty average to be honest.
The menu is all over the place, we had to order on QR codes which I detest, service was non existent due to the QR codes and you could order at the front but everyone else was too and not much space to navigate and long wait times when we went.
The spicy margaritas were weak as water… the mimosa was 99% orange juice. For the huge prices it was pretty dismal.
My croque monsieur was cold and uncooked, the popcorn chicken was the frozen stuff and over cooked. Not really much on the menu for lunch? What a strange menu…!
If they had a decent breakfast + lunch menu, actual service at the tables and proper cocktails this place would be sensational. The fit out is gorgeous.
Maybe a place to come in summer and have a bottle of wine overlooking water….
We spent $220 for 2 adults and 2 children and we didn’t really have much. Very...
