Unfortunately, our dining experience was not what we expected. It was below average due to the customer service provided and non communication from staff. This was not due to the food or atmosphere but towards the service provided and experience we had, due to certain staff members.

We sat outside for lunch as we had our dog with us, on a nice sunny afternoon. We ordered at the bar and we waited patiently for our main meals to come. It had been 45mins and our meals still had not been served. My mother went to ask about our meals and she was told by a staff member that it was busy and the wait time is 1 hr or more for lunch. Unfortunately this was not communicated to us when we ordered in the beginning, if they had told us, we would have not stayed as we had a long drive and it was already 2pm. We understand that it can get busy, and errors can happen. But we did not have anyone update us or let us know what was going on. It is like we had been forgotten.

1 hr and ten mins !! Our mains came but only 2 out of 3. The girl who brought the 2 meals had good customer service. After 5 mins of waiting, I went up to the bar and politely advised we had received our mains but were missing one and it has been more than 1 hr. The lady at the bar was not happy I was asking her to check, her customer service was awful, responded like it was our fault, bad attitude, was rude.. did not provide and apology for the wait or say that she will go and check etc.. She just walked out of the bar around to the back of the restaurant, then to the kitchen and left without saying anything to me. A few mins after she came to the table with the main meal, no smile, no words. Nothing. A lovely place to dine but unfortunately the lack of communication and poor customer service from staff that day made our experience a not so...

Seated at a table with my family, tables pushed together and not even so the person lucky enough to get stuck in the middle is eating on two different levels and a plate banging around whilst trying to eat. Placed our order, the order process was fine, sat down and waited, everything seemed fine, we were having a good time apart from the table issue which was minor and kind of laughable, the meals came out, ordered pepper gravy with the meal which came in a small gravy boat, poured half of the gravy over the meal to see chunks of mushroom, unfortunately I can't stand mushroom otherwise I wouldn't have cared, went up and informed the counter who said no worries we'll change the sauce, explained that it was poured over the meal, slight huff from the male staff member, tutted a few times before saying we'll just have to change it, he grabbed the plate and walked off, we were sitting across from the kitchen so we could see him mocking and laughing about it, sat there for 25 mins at least, everyone had finished eating so my partner and I went up to the counter to ask how long it was going to be, male staff member, now behind the counter under his breath says "you were the one that poured sauce all over it" meal came out at that time. After that comment and total disrespect from staff for their error I requested a refund which was argued at the start to the point where a more senior staff member, maybe a manager stepped in and after hearing what had happened processed the refund immediately. Male staff member still sitting behind the counter laughing about it and telling other staff thinking he was funny or a big man for ruining a family's night out. Will never eat there again and if anyone asks where they can eat in Geelong, will definitely mention not to eat there before suggesting other venues...

What an experience that was. My partner and I were in Geelong so thought we would stop in at a.The wharf shed for breakfasts We sat down looked through the menu and decided we would get 2 x big breakfast one with poached eggs and the other with scrambled eggs and white toast. 1 flat white coffee and 1 latte the food come out quite quick. When the food got placed in front of us we were like really the bacon looked like it had just been taken out of the packet. Warmed and put on the plate no colour at all it still looked uncooked and the scrambled egg was still runny to the point you could still see unmixed egg. You could see it was not fully cooked so it still had raw egg. everyone knows you can’t serve raw egg. I went and spoke with a young staff member she took the plates and walked off. So I went to another staff member and she said I will get the assistant manager. He come over asked what’s the problem I told him the issues with the meal explained everything to him. As he looked everywhere but at me like he was not interested at all. I explained I was a chef by trade and I am not one to complain as I know how much effort go’s in producing quality food. There was no effort put in to producing this food that’s for sure. As I told the assistant manager it was one of if not the worst breakfast we had ever had he shrugged it of. He stood there didn’t say anything and looked at a staff member and like shooed me away with his hand twice. Liked go away I don’t want to hear it no explanation no apology nothing not a sorry or anything. This is absolutely appalling customer service. I would not recommend this to anyone and definitely will not be returning there 3.5 star rating is 3...

I have to say, from a dinner perspective, The Wharf Shed is probably one of the worst places to go in Geelong. First of all, they never pick up their phone and never call back. I attempted to call them several times over the course of 3 days to adjust a reservation and they were completely unresponsive. When entering the premises, there was no one attending and had to figure out where to go myself. There was nothing to indicate where to go to order food. The food arrived remarkably quick when ordered, almost too quick which was a red flag as it became apparent the food had very little in the way of quality for an average $30 meal. 1. Salt & Pepper Calamari was lukewarm and chewy. $30 2. Pork Belly was dry and the chilli caramel was basically absent. The pork crackling was basically eating plastic. $38 3. Wharf Shed Paella tasted like it was warmed up in a microwave. $30 4. Sweet Potato Chips were soggy and the aoili tasted spoilt. $16 5. Chicken Parmigiana was half decent, except for the cheese. Almost worth it as long as you don't look at the $32 pricetag. 6. Hawaiian Pizza was abysmal. The base was undercooked and the cheese was absolutely disgusting. $25 7. Seafood Coquettes were more potato with hints of seafood. $19.50 8. Crab Vol Au Vents come in 3s, but only 1 of them actually had crab in it. $21 The Wharf Shed relies too much on their proximity to the waterfront and fails in basically every other regard. They should honestly downscale to being purely a bar with basic pub food if the quality of such meals to be as pathetic as they are. I won't be returning to this establishment under my own free will.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Wharf shed Hotel, and it was a delightful experience overall. The food quality stood out remarkably, with each dish prepared to perfection and bursting with flavor. The selection of alcohol was equally impressive, featuring a diverse range of high-quality options that complemented the meal perfectly. The ambiance and atmosphere of wharf shed are noteworthy. The setting is both inviting and stylish, creating a comfortable environment ideal for both casual dining and special occasions. The superb service further enhanced the experience, with staff being attentive, friendly, and efficient throughout our visit. One of the standout features of wharf shed Hotel is its pocket-friendly menu. Despite the high quality of the food and service, the prices are very reasonable, offering excellent value for money. However, there is room for improvement in the variety of vegetarian options available. While the existing vegetarian dishes were well-prepared, expanding the menu to include more choices would greatly benefit vegetarian diners and ensure a more inclusive dining experience. In summary, Wharf Shed offers a great dining experience with superb food and alcohol, a lovely ambiance, excellent service, and a budget-friendly menu. With a few more vegetarian options, it would be an even more fantastic place to dine. Overall, it is definitely a place worth visiting.

Very polite staff, Saturday lunch service is a busy one so expect 25-30 minute wait for food. Best to reserve if you want a good a good seat. I had the gummy shark and my partner had the salt and pepper calamari. Calamari was hot, fresh and delicious served with hot chips! The calamari was definitely the better dish of the two, it had a fantastic flavour. Gummy shark was Fresh, lupe warm and served with warm and cold chips which was a bit of a disappointment. I tried a chip from each plate and mine were mostly cold but my partners were fresh and hot! I was a bit jealous. Set aside the cold chips. 2 dishes ordered and 2 drinks cost over 70$ So it’s a bit more on the pricey side for something that didn’t come out hot. I’d expect everything to be hot at the price. Lovely decor though. But sad about the price not matching the quality. I’d hope the venue to produce some consistency. I would also like to add that I did provide feedback and staff offered to get me some hot chips or a slice of cake which was really appreciated but I’d filled up on my Coke Zero by that point, so I did decline. But I can say the customer service from front of house staff is really up there. Some of the best I’ve had. Very lovely people. 1 dish out of the 2. So I would still give this place another go.
