If I could award 5 stars for food and ambience and have that reflect the unfriendly staff I would eveb overlooking the Un-FODMAP friendly menu. I stopped here for breakfast as It came recommended from the hospital staff as somewhere I could get a great coffee, friendly service and more likely to find something to eat that would be FODMAP friendly. First impressions was so far from the friendly welcome I had read about on other reviews. Instead it was a scowling staff member who was curt and officious to the point of rudeness. Asking politely if they have lactose free milk I was told they don't have lactose fee cows milk but have almond and soy. The answer itself was not unusual, most cafes are still grappling with the idea that if you can't have cows milk you just be able to have milk derived from legumes or nuts. Sadly not for Me. I then ordered a breakfast and again incurred wrath when I asked that they omit the sour dough from the meal. I was then given a fluffy toy and told to find a table. Now here is a redeeming quality of my visit. The outdoor area here is beautiful and provided a very much needed tranquility to me having spent 14 days at the Geelong hospital with the constant bells and buzzers that accompany a trip to ICU. The meal was delicious, the mushrooms and spinach cooked to perfection. Perhaps I was unlucky with the staff, it was 9am on a Monday morning after all. I can't recommend it to fellow FODMAP suffers. It caters more to celiacs with plenty of gluten free options. I cannot comment on the coffee as I wasn't comfortable to ask the staff if they could use my unopened UHT pack of lactose fee milk to make it. Based on the service received i won't be a repeat visitor. Maybe give this place a wide birth in...

Cafe has gone completely down hill as of recent. We came here over the weekend and were extremely disappointed with the food and coffee quality - (unfriendly staff is a whole other story). Used to come here many years ago and was never let down! It was the place to go for good coffee, excellent food, and great atmosphere with bubbly staff! This time round, our food was plain tasting - no sauce or seasoning. The bread cut our gums up. If we’d spent the $80 or so on buying breakfast ingredients and using our own skills to cook.. mortifies me to think we actually paid for this tasteless, scratchy shambles of a breakfast ! Coffees were very mediocre.. would choose one from maccas over this. Nobody actually greeted us when we entered. We waited for 5 minutes and felt uncomfortable because nobody acknowledged us, so just made our way down to the back. The young lady that brought our orders out dumped each item out and ran as if a curry from the night prior was making way. No small talk, no eye contact. Utterly disappointing visit.
Please don’t bother… go to box office, that place, funk or...
Read moreI walked in with my two kids and was greeted with no smile or warmth. While placing my order, I asked whether the chocolate balls were halal. The staff member with long hair checked with the kitchen, but their response seemed mocking—as if my question was silly. I felt judged and disrespected.
Parents with young kids make an effort to go out and enjoy time with their children, and instead I ended up feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. I’m still sitting in the café while writing this review because the atmosphere has left me with really bad vibes.
What stood out even more was watching the same staff member serve a group of white customers with noticeably different energy—warm body language and genuine smiles. This inconsistency felt discriminatory and performative.
You visit a café not just for coffee, but for the experience and environment. Sadly, this place offered neither. The coffee was also disappointing.
Don’t be fooled by pretty interiors—respect and hospitality...
