Excessive EFTPOS card surcharges added without any signage or warning, and no receipt. N.B., This kind of overcharging violates ACCC standards. This is not OK.
Packing up all the tables, chairs and signs well before closing time (45 mins early) puts people off and confuses customers.
If you wish to prioritise customers and improve your takings, you may benefit from not stacking all the furniture and packing up at lunchtime.
*Update: It is indeed against ACCC legislation to charge 1.5% surcharge without any signage and without the account holder's informed consent. It is also against ACCC legislation to charge 1.5% surcharge for EFTPOS card (not Master, Visa, or Credit card). Advisiing a customer of one amount, then taking more from their account without their knowledge or consent more or less amounts to fraud/ theft. It puts people off.
Also, I can attest that this cafe packed up all outdoor tables, chairs, and signage at least 45 minutes before the closing time. I witnessed this and had to enquires as to whether the cafe was open or shut.
You may wish to consider remaining open for the entire lunch period (and afternoon tea as well) - considering peak flow through this area begins at approx 2:30pm onwards. This may improve business. Please note that 'lunch' in cafes is generally considered between 12 - 2pm. Closing at 2pm is your prerogative. Packing up all seating, tables, and signs from 1:15pm seems counter-productive to cafe trade. As stated, peak hour at cafes within this area tends to be early morning, and late...
Read moreEnergetic industrious enterprise in the heart of Graceville. It's name is the plant genus commonly known as pineapple and there are quirky nods to this everywhere in a collection of everything pineapple inside. Great personal service. Coffee on point. Food delicious, half portions of most meals which is wonderful especially for a tired shift worker. Prompt delivery. NEURODIVERGENT: 🎧This is not a peaceful or quiet stop if you have sensory issues, bring noise isolators or ear buds as I did. It's popular, especially with morning cyclists and dogs with their humans, if you can't do crowds then it's not for you. ACCESS: ⚠️3/5 It can be crowded so limited mobility access if travelling on wheels with outside seating. Ground level but a small step down from one area to the next and ledged door mean it's not flat and I tripped on the internal step down as it was...
Read moreThe coffee is average considering the price is high, the owners of the cafe have told me off about bringing in reusable coffee cup because of covid restrictions first time. Second visit, this morning, the older female barista yelled at me because I quickly brought my dog into the cafe to buy a takeaway coffee and told me it is a major counsel fine. While she was telling me off about that to me, she was not wearing her safety covid 19 protection mask and they did not ask me for my vaccine certificate. The few times I have visited, they always seem to tell me off or yell at me. I will not tolerate that as customer service. I can't believe they are still in business treating their customers like this....
