As a visitor from out of town, I was eager to explore local cafés and immerse myself in the community's coffee culture. Unfortunately, my visit to Anouk Cafe was marked by a series of service-related disappointments that left me questioning the establishment's commitment to customer satisfaction.

Upon first passing by, I took a moment to peruse the menu displayed outside. A staff member approached and inquired if I was okay. I mentioned I was reviewing the menu, to which she acknowledged and walked away. Returning shortly thereafter, I entered the café and seated myself, anticipating a warm welcome. Regrettably, I was overlooked as staff members passed by without any acknowledgment. It was only after a nearby group kindly alerted a staff member to my presence that I was informed the café had closed. This was contrary to my earlier interaction, where no such indication was given.

When I expressed my confusion, the staff member suggested I must have misunderstood. Seeking at least a modest gesture of hospitality, I requested a cold water. She promptly brought it to me but did not engage further.

In a final act of professionalism, the staff directed other patrons to nearby establishments still open for coffee. This experience was disheartening, especially as a visitor unfamiliar with the area. It highlighted a lapse in communication and customer service that overshadowed any potential merits the café might have had.

I hope this feedback serves as constructive insight for Anouk Cafe to enhance their customer service protocols and ensure that future patrons, regardless of their familiarity with the area, feel...

Just wanted to let you know that my mum and I attended your cafe around 10:30am yesterday mon 11th. I could see that it was busy and perhaps you were short staffed and that was fine with us. We understand, because covid.

The lady who met us at the door (looked like an owner perhaps, curly hair) pointed at some chairs and tables to tell us to sit there. She was extremely unfriendly to begin with.

She began to sit other people On other tables (4 tables after us).. She then began serving the other tables she sat down AFTER us. After 20 mins, she come up to us, not greeting us or telling us you know “thanks for waiting here’s your menu” but really chucking menus at our table.

She began to serve the table next to us, a young couple with a baby, took their coffee order then served another table behind us. At this point it 30 mins later and we just got up and left.

She was extremely rude, unprofessional. I was not going to pay money for breakfast, be treated like a dog (chucking menus at our table) (I treat my dogs nicer than that) and then be asked to pay for the service. I will never come back to this cafe and make sure I tell everyone about my experience. I’ve worked in retail, hospitality etc and I’ve never been treated like that. I’m pretty empathetic, but that was not on. Your staff are rude. Unfortunately you will lose customers for the way you behave and treat others. I hope you take this on board and improve your service.. if you don’t know, you won’t learn.

Looking at your reviews, it looks like it’s a common problem, perhaps she should work in the...

An acknowledging, warm, and friendly welcoming goes a long way; especially on a drizzly morning… As does a long loungey bench pilled high with enormous fluffy cushions. Add in natural light and free Brisbane wifi you get a pretty good all-round nice atmosphere. The food isn't fantastic value when you add in the portion sizes, but it is more unqiue and has been flavourful. For the baked eggs: Good flavours, and a level of spice that I appreciated. Pretty well thought out too, the crispy chickpeas were really valuable for their texture and the sour cream (hard to go wrong) justified the tortillas. Although, in my opinion they were too oily, especially with it being a wet dish. ‘Kawarma: spiced lamb, fried egg, pita w/ hummus and pomegranate molasses’. A combination of flavours I like, and a meal I enjoyed. The lamb mince it didn’t feel that fatty or oily and the texture really complimented the egg, hummus and bread. A subtle drizzle of pomegranate molasses and egg is a nice combination. The hummus felt a bit light on and I think I’d like it warm or at room temperature rather than cold. I was also really searching for a fresh element, like some cucumber, cherry tomatoes or a...

I have eaten at this cafe at least 50 times or more and historically the staff are welcoming and go above and beyond. Today however the dark long haired girl that was working was so horrifically rude that we will never go back as long as she’s employed there. We wanted to check if the French toast was part of the breakfast menu and she was a condescending jerk. Made worse by the fact that I am about to check into the Wesley for major surgery and before my fasting period my husband took me to Anouk to cheer me up. I worked in customer service for ten years before I became a lawyer and not once did I ever or will I ever look down on anyone or treat them like they are beneath me. This staff member needs to wake up and realise that her airs and graces have no place in the hospitality industry or any industry for that matter. My husband also said she ignored him when he went to pay and the girl on the coffee machine appeared to be aware of it and looked visibly uncomfortable. RIP Anouk. You were a place of pleasant memories for us. P.S my compliments to the chef for making the best French toast of my life. It’s a pity I’ll never have it again.
