Was on a work trip and I needed some sustenance on a weeknight. In the CBD there aren’t a great deal of options. I received a very effusive welcome from Max, even though the restaurant was quiet. A beautifully presented non alcoholic beverage made exactly as I like it (pictured). No request to Max about the menu was too much trouble. There is a large selection of specialty (kangaroo etc) meals on the menu which are not my thing. With his help, I eventually settled on the heritage carrots which belies the dish- it does have carrots but many other wonderful fresh and flavourful additions as well. I added the kofta for protein, which is vegan. It is a basement restaurant and gallery, so do persevere if at first you can’t find it ! The accolades on google reviews are all true in my experience. The restaurant has a young vibe too. :) Edit. Went back a second time with a friend from work. We were warmly welcomed again. :) Convinced myself not to eat the same thing two nights in a row, even though I was not judged on this potential repetition by our server. :)I highly recommend the charcoal grilled prawns! We shared the sweet and sour cauliflower. Yum.

I felt like I entered another dimension when I first walked into this basement cafe and gallery, and I can't wait to go back. I was walking by and went down the stairs to grab a takeaway coffee and was amazed to find this tucked away venue offered so much. The service was fantastic and the coffee was very good. It is a large and welcoming space lined with Indigenous artworks and has many tables, as well as couches, where you can sit and take in the cultural experience. It is described as 'a multi-faceted Cultural Hub that is accessible for everyone to enjoy'. It looks like a good option for a group lunch as there are some large tables, but it would also be fine to be on your own. The cafe uses ethically-sourced Native spices and ingredients to create an inspired range of food options. After my visit I researched and found that 'Wiradyuri man, Birrunga Wiradyuri, is the founder and principal artist of this multi-award winning Birrunga Gallery situated in the heart of Meanjin (Brisbane) CBD.' This place is definitely worth discovering.

Came here because it was the only place in Brisbane (and nearby) that served all three native meats (kangaroo, emu, crocodile). We ended up taking the tacos that had all three and a poke bowl with salmon (to be safe). While the tacos tasted good, it was hard to tell each meat apart since they were all battered and deep fried. The poke bowl tasted a bit bland. Nice decorations with aboriginal art.

Cafe Birruga in Brisbane is a hidden gem that I stumbled upon recently, and it's safe to say that I was thoroughly impressed. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The cozy interior, adorned with tasteful decor, created the perfect setting for a relaxing meal.

Now, let's talk about the food. Cafe Birruga exceeded my expectations in every way. Their menu offers a delightful range of options to satisfy various tastes especially in the Indigenous cuisine. The ingredients were fresh, and the presentation was impeccable. It's evident that the chefs here take pride in their craft.

What truly sets Cafe Birruga apart is their commitment to quality. Not only is the food exceptional, but the coffee is also top-notch. A well-brewed cup of coffee is a must for me, and Cafe Birruga certainly delivers on that front. Their baristas know their craft well, and it reflects in every sip.

The staff at Cafe Birruga are friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. They were more than willing to accommodate my dietary preferences and offered excellent recommendations.

Whether you're looking for a cozy spot for brunch with friends, a place to have a quiet coffee and read, or a venue for a business meeting, Cafe Birruga checks all the boxes. It's a testament to Brisbane's thriving cafe scene, and I can't wait to return for another memorable dining experience. I highly recommend giving Cafe Birruga a try – you won't be disappointed! I recently visited Birrunga Café in Brisbane and was thoroughly impressed with my experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The décor is tasteful and modern, with plenty of natural light and a comfortable seating area.

But the real star of Birrunga Café is the food. The menu is full of delicious, healthy options that cater to a variety of dietary needs. I opted for the smashed avocado on toast, which was served with feta, cherry tomatoes, and a perfectly poached egg. The dish was beautifully presented and tasted just as good as it looked.

In addition to the food, the service at Birrunga Café is exceptional. The staff are friendly and attentive, and they made sure that my meal was enjoyable from start to finish. I was impressed by their knowledge of the menu and their willingness to make recommendations based on my preferences.

Overall, I highly recommend Birrunga Café to anyone looking for a delicious, healthy meal in a welcoming environment. Whether you're in the mood for breakfast, brunch, or lunch, Birrunga Café is definitely...
