My experience was one of 50 humiliation, security person 621 decided that as a 60 year who lent on the bars, while chatting to others in the line, was enough to exclude me from the group. By no means was I inebriated to any level, at least no any more than the others from my family lining up to have a dance to live music from my family. Rude & judgemental, disgusting, I will share my experience far & wide as a business owner of a not fior profit org for women I stand by my rights. - your judgemental & exclusive venue should be exposed for what it is & as a tip engaging bogfhesds to control your entry is a bad idea .. some intelligence doesn’t go astray, will share far & wide & not attempt to enter your premises again -take note those older than 30… some updated dropouts will judge you & decide if your good enough or not 👍👍. You Wouldn’t have a clue .,. Brocklyn Standard - will share this experience on socials & far & wide & will share in my regular slot on radio. Disgraceful -For those searching in reviews -don’t go there .. it’s prejudice & too exclusive … not pleasant & security are prejudice & embarrassing don’t...
Read moreLast I visited Brooklyn Standard was in 2014 - the very year this funky little basement dive opened its doors. Ten years on, I was pleased to see it’s still the same New York-inspired haunt, pulsing with live music every single night, every genre imaginable crammed into a small, wild space.
A quick trip down the stairs, and you’re plunged into a cosy room that’s part jazz den, part late-night hideaway. There’s seating, but on a Saturday night it’s a rare commodity, and don’t expect quiet conversations - this is a place for the music, for dancing, for letting go. The dance area? A churning crowd, bodies pressing close, and you’ll lose track of how many times your toes get stepped on as people surge toward the stage.
But it’s the crowd that’s the real thrill - a beautiful mess of humanity thrown together; mums and dads off the leash for a night, wide-eyed travelers, hipsters, rockers, uni students, NRL stars, grizzled old barflies, and slick city suits, all losing themselves in the music and the moment. It’s electric, chaotic, and strangely perfect. One night here, and you’ll know why it’s a...
Read moreGreat atmosphere both young and mature people were there. The band last week was ok except the sound system was bad. The bands tonight were ok a bit more rockabilly and Americana again the sound system was pretty ordinary. Love the style tonight but the choice of songs was ordinary. Heard a really bad version of "sorrow" (David Bowie) tonight. He would have rolled in his grave. Dance floor is medium small and it's not really for dancing more for people to stand and gawk at the band with their drinks in their hand. You have to elbow in there unto the dance floor and hold your spot because it's pretty much shoulder to shoulder after 9pm. It is possible to dance there. You just gotta do it in the very spot your occupying. Good venue. Interesting genre of bands. Dance floor should be twice as big. Reasonably quick service at the bar. They had about 5 people serving behind the bar. I got served almost as soon as I arrived at the bar. Mind you I was just asking for water. But...
