Hadn't been here for a few years - I used to like it, but sadly it seems to have gone downhill. I arrived an hour before closing on Friday evening. The Asian lady behind the pastry counter was friendly - there seemed to be difficulties with communication but she tried her best. I ordered an éclair to take away and a baguette sandwich, toasted.
When the sandwich arrived, it was completely missing the lettuce that was on the display unit, and it was also rock hard and flattened. So hard and flat that it looked like a toastie from an airport kiosk, and tasted like one. I'm not sure why a patisserie would think that putting a baguette in a toastie press and nuking it to oblivion for max duration was a good idea, when even Subway heats their sandwiches appropriately (in an oven for a short duration)... but I didn't complain.
When I went to refill my water, the second Asian lady (who usually does the barista coffee) yelled a reprimand at me: "Excuse me, the floor is wet!". I looked around, baffled. Yes, that particular strip of floor had been recently cleaned, but they had put the self-serve water station in the opposite corner from the entrance, so the only other way there was from behind the counter, which was obviously staff-only.
"Okay, so... could you...?" I gestured from my glass to the water station, hoping that she would refill it for me, but she merely stared back at me, unmoving, unblinking, and clearly extremely annoyed.
Well, I was thirsty, so what was I to do? I walked on her wet floor.
The éclair was pretty decent, however. If they fixed their reheating method and employed people who didn't clearly hate their job, they'd be a reasonably competitive patisserie. As it stands, I...
Read moreReview for Pacific Fair store- I love and have loved Le Bon Choix for so long, even before the Gold Coast had a store. I cannot fault the food and the sweets, absolutely amazing. BUT it is SO disorganised, staff have absolutely no idea and are very rude. You are not able to sit down until after you have ordered, I understand the theory behind this but it is not communicated at all. On one occasion I was spoken to so rudely by a girl for sitting down even though my boyfriend was literally ordering at the exact time I sat down, and at this stage I didn’t know the rule to wait til you’ve ordered. There was no friendly explanation it was just a “you are not to sit down til you’ve ordered.” This is not normal practice for a cafe so you need to sort that out, whether you tell people as they enter the line or you seat them yourselves, something needs to change. Today I even saw a lady be told by a staff member to sit at a table only for the girl serving to yell at her to come over and order and then when the lady came over to order, the girl serving told her she wasn’t to have sat there and she needs to wait til she’s ordered. This infuriated me as the woman clearly didn’t speak so much English and the girl kept telling her she needs to wait to be seated but she was literally told by a staff member to sit there?? The worker would not drop it, even when she noticed the lady didn’t understand, she just kept being rude, it was horrible to watch.
You really need to sort the situation out as people aren’t going to want to eat in, especially when you charge extra for eat in. I know I try to just get take away more often now because it’s all...
Read moreLe Bon Choix Bakery is a hidden gem located in the heart of Brisbane. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the sweet aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries. The bakery has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, with a small seating area perfect for enjoying a coffee and pastry.
The menu at Le Bon Choix features a wide variety of baked goods, from croissants and pastries to bread and cakes. I tried the almond croissant and it was simply divine. The croissant was flaky and buttery, with a generous filling of almond cream and sliced almonds on top. The coffee was also excellent, with a rich and smooth flavor that complemented the pastry perfectly.
The staff at Le Bon Choix are friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home. The bakery also has a good selection of gluten-free and vegan options, making it a great choice for anyone with dietary restrictions.
In addition to the baked goods, Le Bon Choix also has a small selection of sandwiches and salads on the menu, perfect for a quick and delicious lunch. The prices are also very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food.
