The counter lady that assisted spoke to me in the most condescending and racist manner I have ever experienced here in Australia. I presented to the counter with my package in a international envelope and the counter lady, without explaining anything, started to get agitated with me and simply grunt that I had picked up the wrong envelope. I asked, can you show me which one I am supposed to use then? She then grunted again, rolled her eyes, and stated whatever. We can just proceed wtih this one. I am speechless at this point because I had no explanation as to what I had done wrong. I felt embarassed and absolutely shocked as to why I was getting this kind of service at a postal office. The next part was what tipped the scale. I am originally from Canada, so my understanding of the various different postal companies is quite limited. I had a tracking QR code from DHL that was provided by the clothing company, to whom I was sending this package to - unaware that the company is not associated with Australia Post. As the lady laid eyes on the receipt, she grunted once again, and stated "we cannot accept this, its DHL." So I had asked her, is DHL not associated with Australia post?" She then yelled in my face - "IT'S D.....H.......L" as if I was someone who could not speak fluent english (please note once again, I am from Canada where english is literally my first language.) Regardless whether someone was born in an english speaking country or not, the amount of racism and condescension I experienced with this postal lady was appalling. I am shocked at the level of service, or just genuine kindness, that was lacking in this individual. I strongly suggest proper training and supervision be given to her, because I cannot fathom the amount of hate other customers are receiving on a daily basis. The amount of sadness and pure sympathy that goes out to everyone that this horrible woman has offended cannot be described in words. If she genuinely does not enjoy her job, please go find a career elsewhere, do not take it out on innocent clients. I will highly recommend any other branch, than his Brisbane city one. Looking at the other reviews below me - surprise surprise, it was also an arrogant rude blonde lady with glasses. It's time to say bye bye to this one,...

Sat. 21/05/2022: Awful service from the blonde woman managing the floor today around 11:15am. She asked me what I was there for, I told her parcel collect and she told me to go to the counter to be served by her. She was unable to find my parcel and told me I had to go back the following Monday for it. I showed her the tracking information on my app which showed the parcel had been there for 3 days and asked why it couldn't be found. She said she didn't know and repeated I had to come back on Monday.

This is the third or fourth time I've been to this post office and been told by a staff member they couldn't find my parcel, only to check with another staff member who was able to find it. So I returned to the back of the queue and waited my turn to be served by someone else and have them double check just in case. The woman who had just served me was back to directing people on the floor, and she approached me again and said "excuse me, we cannot help you, you need to come back on Monday." I told her I went to this post office regularly and this had happened to me multiple times, and I wanted a different staff member to check my parcel because otherwise I would have to wait at least a week until I could come back for it. The woman gave me a disgruntled face, muttered "ok" sarcastically and walked off. Then I got served by a different staff member who, surprise surprise, was able to immediately find my parcel.

Rude, arrogant and dismissive behaviour from the first staff member. I was not abusive, I was not disruptive, I returned to the back of the queue and waited my turn to be served again, there was over an hour of trade left and the line was not that long - I was already second from the front when she decided to unnecessarily escalate the situation by telling me I had to leave. She had zero reason to take it upon herself to refuse me service which could have cost me a week without my parcel because of her apathy and...

Less than helpful staff. I offered some advice on improving the Australia post web page to be told that I needed to submit any feed back via email to Australia post.

I wanted to send a large parcel using Australia post. Conveniently you can input your dimensions into the Australia post web page to get a quote (no flags were raised by the system when I input my items dimensions). You can then check the limit for a domestic parcel (a girth limit is not listed for domestic parcels) and your parcel will fit under the cubic volume limit, length limit and weight limit. Then you go into this facility to be told that your parcel exceeds the girth limit. You can then helpfully suggest that they update the web page (so that a flag gets raised if your parcel exceeds the girth limit) and that they add a girth limit into the domestic limitations section (similar to the international limitations section - that 140cm girth not be exceeded).

All in all I felt that the lady didn't want to process my parcel as I doubt Australia post would lack the hindsight to overlook the web page issues listed above.

**UPDATE: I've changed my review to 2 stars, as upon the advice of the staff member, I did email Australia post with my feedback. They took less than 24 hours to contact me and inform me that, in fact, my parcel could be sent through and that it did not violate the size limitations. I was told that staff had been notified to look out for me when I went to re-post my parcel but, as advised by the staff member the night before, I have already used an alternate courier service. Additionally the Australia post web page is correct and does not...

I came into the Queen Street AusPost branch and was greeted politely by a lovely lady who clearly told me what box to get and what sections to fill out. She was kind, helpful, and gave proper instructions, no issues there. But the moment I got to the cashier, ROBERTA completely ruined the experience. She spoke to me with such condescension and attitude, like I was a burden for simply following the instructions I was given. She lectured me in front of everyone because I had written on the box, even though THAT’S WHAT I WAS TOLD TO DO. Then, when I asked a very simple yes or no question about whether I needed to fill out the personal info section under the box, she couldn’t even answer that. Instead, she kept yapping and lecturing like I was a child who did something wrong. Humiliating, unnecessary attitude, and her behavior was downright rude. Left sad, angry, embarrassed, and disrespected. You don’t treat people like that, and you especially don’t humiliate customers in front of a room full of strangers for something so small. I hope someone in that rude lady’s life gets treated the exact same way one day, maybe then she’ll understand the damage her words and tone can cause.

Allow me to transport you to the heart of Brisbane's rich history – a rendezvous with the captivating General Post Office. An intricate fusion of yesteryears and contemporary allure that left me spellbound. The modern day’s Australia Post Office has an interior that is decorated in modern designs but still maintain the traditional British aspect such as the red posting box. It serves functions as a typical post office but has a historical outlook. The building’s legacy harks back to an era when handwritten letters embarked on journeys within these very walls, stitching lives across distances. Its architectural grace spun tales of a time when post offices held the key to communication. The GPO unfolds as a picturesque canvas ready to be immortalized. The interplay of dignified architecture and intricate details transforms every click into a work of art. From the ornate facade to the vintage post boxes, every angle offered an abundance of inspiration. In the heart of Brisbane's dynamic rhythm, the GPO stands as a living relic of eras gone by, while gracefully embracing the present.

Staff are fairly polite if not a bit abrupt at times as they are always busy. They seem to struggle with staffing levels and lines frequently get very long whenever there are a few customers needing more time with their request. On a more personal note: I send most of my parcels to this post office using Parcel Collect because there are security issues at my apartment building, and because they're open on Saturdays since I work during the week. But today after nearly a year of me doing this with no issue, when I collected my parcels one of them had the below sticker on it. I don't know what they're on about as I've had them nominated as my Parcel Collect location on my MyPost account since I moved here 2 years ago, I even checked those details today on both the browser version and the app version of MyPost and sure enough those details haven't changed. So maybe they need to be checking their records more closely, or at least discuss it directly with the customer instead of leaving a passive-aggressive sticker on their parcel before silently handing it over. 😂
