If you are looking for familiar and cosy dining spot with familiar Japanese flavours to take you back to japan for the night. Or if you've never been and are looking for what it would be like, this is pretty damn close to it. There is parking around the back of the establishment next door just off Creighton Street before just before you get to the restaurant, with a short 2 minute walk to the restaurants front door.
Food: I had the Miso Ramen, Assorted Sashimi set and dragon roll (Eel). Don't judge I was very hungry. And yes I ate it all. This order would easily feed 2 people. I didn't take photos however here is a description.
Miso Ramen: the miso ramen was good full of flavour and lots of toppings, a very filling meal, the noodles were cooked well and the soup itself was very flavoursome. Served nice and hot.
Sashimi set: The sashimi set had raw Kingfish, Tuna, Salmon and Scallops. It was quite fresh and well prepared meal served with two portions of salmon, two portions of tuna, one Scallop sliced in 3 and one portion of Kingfish. The meal was very well presented on the plate.
Dragon roll: The dragon rolls were served in a set of 8 as tuna salad rolls and each topped with a piece of Eel. A little bit of a twist to what I would be used to but was very, very well balanced and flavour. The eel was cooked beautifully and melted in my mouth.
Overall a beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere and very well prepared food with friendly staff.
Thank you Dami and your staff for a wholesome evening and meal.
One thing for the restaurant and it is a minor thing I would have like to have two scallops spliced in half on the sashimi set rather than the one sliced in 3. This is my only negative feedback to take into...
Read moreVery, very poor show. Starving, love Japanese food. Went for Gyoza, then Tempura, then Sashimi (full house $31 worth!!). Server brought out sashimi first- I politely asked for it to be put in the fridge, that the gyoza was entree. Gyoza was dry with thick pastry, like four mini pasties. Now- attempt to redeliver sashimi, politely asked for the tempura first. Really thick batter (totally unlike Japanese), one huge broccoli head- like a tree!! (unjapanese), a mushroom an elf could live in and two really thin slices from a massive potato under the (peeled off) layer of batter!! Sashimi now arrives after the batter taken away and the extra $12 I paid for the scallop slices (6) was totally unjustified, plus the few pieces of salmon and tuna were again a little large (unjapanese). I ate everything but the batter, the garnish and the bits of lemon and left hungry!! AND the bathroom was a 42 metre walk away at the Mt. Gravatt Pub!! Total robbery- my outlay was $49 and I had to ask for water. I seldom write reviews- don't go there, terrible!! There is no provision for Zero or minus stars, so I am FORCED...
Read moreSushi was nice as I got a couple as a side. Sized a little bit bigger than the your standard sushi train. I think sushi is what most come here for. I can't provide too much detail on the sushi.
Unfortunately I ordered two mains (chicken curry noodle and teriyaki chicken) and was disappointed. Flavour was nice, but the meal consisted mostly of vegetables and carbs. There was barely any chicken in both dishes. Probably about 90-95% veg and carbs and 5-10% chicken. Not really worth the price as it's probably less than $3 worth of ingredients. I honestly thought they forgot to add the meat when I was eating the curry noodle but found a few small pieces.
I unfortunately won't be coming back here for rice or noodle dishes as you'd get better value at a fast food place like hanaichi with...
