I have been a little slack writing a review for the Little Black Pug - but it is better late than never.
We came as a family, no booking, to this café we knew nothing about last week.
We were greeted very quickly and was asked to wait to be seated. I know this ticks some people off, but we were ok with it, and the fact that three different staff members spoke to us and assured us we would be seated soon was great. In all honesty, I don't think we waited long at all.
We were lead through the café to another awesome area out the back. Every staff member that saw us said hello or welcomed us some other way.
Vinnie looked after us, and we were very happy with his service and the jokes he made.
We ordered the carnivore dogs breakfast, nacho imposter, hello me roll, Mr benedict wafflebatch. To drink I had a large latte, my eldest daughter had a chai and my youngest had a ready set go frozen fruit blend. Everything we ordered was great.
If we are being REALLY picky I would say the waffles were a little dry and this just may be because of the cheese in them, but they weren't bad, just a little dry.
As we left, again all the staff thanked us and said good bye (where does that happen today????)
Loved the Little Black Pug and would highly recommend it to anyone. For those with dietary restrictions there seems to be many options available.
If you're a dog lover, there seems to be tables set aside for you to bring your canine companion too. Do yourself a favor and give this...
Read moreTL;DR - While items on the menu rotate, friendly customer service and quality meals are always guaranteed.
My Experience - I have been here now twice, once before the pandemic and again in June 2021. I wish I could frequent more often however the location is a bit out of my way.
I’ve only ever been on weekdays where it’s not so busy, but all wait staff still treat me with kindness and attentiveness.
Nice ambiance, airy but cosy. The staff here are super friendly and pretty knowledgeable on the menu. The quantity is neither too much or too little, and is filling enough.
The price may seem a little steep but I believe the cafe engages in charitable efforts, or at least did (or even if they never I mean it’s not too dissimilar to other cafe prices).
The menu is constantly changing in accordance to seasons or what’s popular. Hearing this made me a little apprehensive, however the quality is really solid, and the meals are delicious - I just suppose the chef likes to switch things up every now and then. There are little things that would help elevate the meals to an eleven, (like certain flavour profiles in the congee, or maybe buttering the baguette pieces etc etc) however these are minuscule and for the side parts of the dish. The main meals are hearty, tasty, and the turn around time isn’t too long.
Both family friendly, or for friends / dates. I would definitely recommend if you’ve been thinking about it, or want to visit a cafe with exceptional service or an ever...
Read morehadn't ever heard of little black pug but decided to come here for brunch with my family. the cafe is small looking from the front but they have so many tables out back in a cute fairy light shipping container.
we had to wait out the front for a bit but the staff were so nice about it, other staff greeted us as we walked in and took us to our table. our main waiter s/o to vinnie for making jokes and being really friendly. even when we left all the staff said goodbye, just overall a really nice homely vibe.
I don't have any dietary requirements but over half the menu catered for gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options which is honestly v nice to see.
food and drinks were pretty reasonably priced, about the same you'd pay for brunch at other cafes.
we ordered the dogs breakfast, nacho imposter, hello me roll, mr benedict wafflebatch - just typing these out I realise the puns HAHA. overall the dishes were really nice and quite unique, the roll was a lot larger than I expected - this was probably my favourite thing we ordered. the nachos were really interesting because they had deep fried the corn fritters, the egg on the dogs breakfast was probably one of the most beautiful eggs I've seen and the only complaint was that the waffles were a little dry.
definitely would recommend little black pug to anyone looking for a...
