The decor and black walls of the alleyway set the scene for what we hoped would be a magnificent meal. At $89 per head, we had high expectations. Unfortunately, the Mother's Day menu did not reach them. Prepared for the 4-course degustation we didn't say much when the half piece of "wattle-seed sourdough" toast came out with its pumpkiny-butter spread. Trying to cut down on bread, I focused on the 1 "baked oyster" that made up my share of the first "snack" course. An oyster lover, I thought the hot curry sauce did not match well with the ocean fresh flavour, but I literally sucked it up and told myself the "Mooloolaba Tiger Prawn" entree was next. I was seriously hanging out to try their seafood scallops, but no amount of bribing was going to veer us off the set menu. The supposed prawn entree turned out to be yet another half piece of toast, smothered in poppy seed paste and a generous sprinking of bonito fish flakes. There was neither fish flavour nor hope left of satisfying my seafood cravings. With the alternative being a "Paroo Kangaroo" bite, I decided to eat my toast. By the time the main course of beef rib arrived, served alongside a half cos lettuce sprinkled with spices and possibly bacon bits, I was ready to eat anything. To my delight, the smoky and sweet flavours of the pull-apart meat made my tastebuds happy. That was the flavour bomb I'd been waiting for. Washed down with my whisky I should have stopped there. But with cauliflower ice cream on the menu, curiosity got the better of me. The perfect quenelle of creamy, not too sweet dessert sitting on its pink biscuit crumb bed, looked lovely. I just couldn't get past the (dare I say it) farty cooked cabbage flavour that overpowered each mouthful. My grandsons did like their kids meal of beef, chips, aoli, and cabbage salad, so not everyone walked away disappointed from the $400 meal. I've yet to decide if I'll be back to try the scallops a...

We recently dined at Flaming and Co on Racecourse Rd for a midweek dinner, and were pleasantly surprised by the high standard and quality of the food.

We started with the Wattleseed Flatbread, which was beautifully accompanied by roasted eggplant, macadamia, and garlic. The Smoked Pork Hock Croquettes were a standout, paired perfectly with bush tomato and fried curry leaves. Another highlight was the Housemade Duck Liver Pâté, served with molasses lavosh, choucroute, and a delicious house condiment. The Chicken Drumstick Fillet Skewers, with housemade cultured sheep’s yoghurt, victoria pepita, and smoked red pepper oil, were also exceptional.

For our mains, we shared the Imperial Blossom Darling Downs QLD Rump Cap MB+7 Black Wagyu, a 220gm cut that came with grilled cabbage, sherry, and a rich red wine jus. This was complemented by the Grilled Oak Salad, which had a delightful samphire dressing, Dutton Park honey, and a pork jowl crumb.

Dessert was the perfect ending to our meal. We shared the Chicheme Crème Brûlée, which was accompanied by Madagascan vanilla bean and a sweet corn anglaise. Each bite was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality and creativity.

Throughout the meal, we enjoyed a bottle of Château de Campuget 1753 Syrah 2020, which paired wonderfully with the diverse flavors of our dishes.

The atmosphere at Flaming and Co was warm and inviting, enhanced by the passion of Head Chef Jesse, whose dedication to his craft clearly transferred to our dining experience. Overall, it was a memorable evening, and we highly recommend Flaming and Co for anyone seeking a...

Ordered some cocktails, drinks come out one at a time, even though we ordered together, probably a good 10min wait between drinks. When we got the drinks they are 100% watered down, I would never order drinks here ever again due to that alone.

Put our order in and got told we are ordering a lot of food for two people so we took food off our order, not sure why it’s their problem if we over order food at all.

Entires come out together, but they had ran out of a major part of one of them but never told us, we wouldn’t have ordered it if we had known. Oysters didn’t seem fresh but ok to eat.

Ordered the salad side, it didn’t come with part of it, the head chef clearly didn’t tell anyone about it, front of house had a 5 min talk with him about it. Very poor communication between staff members.

They did comp us a free entire serving of the pasta on the menu. Only because I’ll still be hungry after when we ordered after bending told a number of times it’s a lot of food.

Cut our dinner short because of all of these things, wanted to spend another $150+ on a steak, side, bottle of wine and desert.

I agree with another review, they are trying to do fine dinning in a casual setting.

Will never be coming back. Would rather spend more money on an uber to go...

We over-ordered for 2 people, as we fully intended to take away part of the whole duck we ordered. Here is a list of things we ordered in ascending order of enjoyment: beef tartare, grilled oysters, roasted pineapple, grilled corn, prawns, chuck tail flap, whole roasted duck. The beef tartare was too salty and needed some acidity instead of more salt --- very imbalanced, not enjoyable. The cracker it was served on was starting to turn soggy, as we saw our plate sit at the pass for quite a while before it was brought to us. The roast duck, on the other hand, did justice to all the time and attention it received over 12 days (of dry aging and smoking). It smelled smoky. The skin was super crisp. There was fat, which gave it richness, but it was not too much or gross. The breast was tender, intensely savoury, juicy, and silky. That duck was highly craveable. I'd go back if only for the whole roasted duck. Yes, it costs $108, but we brought home the wings, thighs, and drumsticks, which made for a tasty meal the following day. $108 divided by 4 servings = $27 per serve, which is much less than what you'd need to pay for a main course nowadays. The duck parts we ate at home are best eaten at home --- really toothsome. There's no way you can eat those gracefully in public.
