G.U Tea 巭草堂 — Restaurant in Brisbane City

Have been here on several occasions and the service varies from time to time. However, the service I got last night was the worst. The young guy with the black hoodie just completely ignored my friend and I when we asked him to clean the table for us. It was a 7pm on a Friday night and all the tables were left uncleaned after diners had used it. Not very Covid-safe. Furthermore, the music is so loud that customers can't even hear their orders being called out (Sometimes, the staff don't even call out to check). Service was slow as well, we had to go up to the counter to check if our order was completed. Also disappointed there's a surcharged for using card payment. Most good businesses would absorb any surcharge and I'm sure banks don't charge that high of a fee for using electronic payments. The desserts are ok and milk teas can be a hit or...

What is worse than a staff that can barely speak English? They take forever to make your drinks. Quite challenging to place an order trying to use minimal words like an idiot just so they could understand what I wanted to buy. It took 30 mins to get out drink because they left it on top of the cabinet without calling out the number. We were the closest table to the cashier so there was no way we didn't hear. They didn't even bother to check seeing the drinks hadn't been collected after such long time. Creme brulee took the same amount of time because they forgot our order. The final strike was when they told us no pearl left about 15mins after we ordered. Business that cannot do stock control properly is what I hate the most. I ordered the bubble green milk tea with standard ice & little sugar. My friends also ordered different levels of ice for their drinks but none of us received ice in any of our drinks...the overall drink tasted alright - tea flavour in mine was very mild & pearls were not the typical dark brown ones (they were yellow but there weren't any options to choose).

Bring cash to avoid surcharge for card payments.

A good thing about this place is that there is ample seating compared to other milk tea places.

Update Dec 2023: recently tried their taro souffle pancake & strawberry slush - both were good overall. Pancake was a bit eggy. Sunday evenings are understaffed. 1 at the front & 1 at the back - was told that the pancake would take 30minutes & that was accurate. Drinks did also take a longer than expected but...
