Sorry but this is the worst Chinese Restaurant i've ever eaten from!! We just moved here from Melbourne, so admittedly we are kind of food snobs :D However all jokes aside, this really place is terrible! I can accept average food and not be too disappointed but this was literally terrible! We ordered chilli calamari, the calamari was sliced sooooo thin and was then soooo overcooked that my husband who didnt know what we ordered sat down, tasted it and said "what's this?!" It wasnt even recognisable! The "KING PRAWNS" were basically tiny frozen prawns from the supermarket with a HUGE casing of batter to disguise the fact that there was a 2cm prawns in there and not the "KING PRAWNS" that they advertise! The "oyster sauce" was so watery, it was like they couldnt be bothered draining the vegetables and just dumped the veggie's plus a litre of water into the container and mixed it all up with oyster sauce. The lemon chicken which was battered was sooooo overcooked as well, it tasted like it had been cooked 3 days earlier, battered and warmed up in the fryer. And lastly we ordered curry puffs. The beautiful Thai Restaurant Mons San Sabai in Camp Hill MAKE THEIR OWN CURRY PUFFS, they are beautiful, fresh and GENEROUS! I thought based of that experience that I would get something similar here. DEFINITELY NOT!!! These again were tiny little curry puffs that you buy at coles and throw into the oven. Except this time they charge you $1.00 for EACH one! Same goes for the spring rolls. They are not house made, they are supermarket bought! Honestly in Melbourne you'd be out of business in a week if you didnt make your own spring rolls! If you're reading this you might assume i'm that person that cant be happy about anything lol (i know, i read reviews like this and think the same thing) and generally i just accept that sometimes things might not be great and sometimes with food it might not always be at their usual standard....but this is actually the first NEGATIVE review i've ever posted and im posting it because this was the WORST CHINESE I'VE EVER HAD!!! My husband who would literally eat a cardboard box and say it was delicious, ate this meal and said "wow what a waste of $90, that was disgusting!" So after his comments i decided to post a review. I couldnt even say ONE of the dishes was good...it was all terrible quality. The best thing were the free prawn crackers that they threw in the bag. Sorry to the restaurant I know the food business is hard work, but the standard of food is really quite bad and with all the restaurants opening across the road at Coorparoo Square soon i think these people will find it difficult to stay open if this is the food they usually produce. I hope it was just a bad night and we were unlucky, but unfortunately i'll never find out because I would never...
Read moreVery average. We had the “Pack Meal for 2” for $44.50. We chose Chicken with Cashew Nuts and Sweet n’ Sour Pork (2 of the most common dishes so if you can’t get those right, there is something wrong). I would describe the food as edible but not great and would not go back again to buy. The nicest part of the meal were the tiny spring rolls. I don’t feel great writing this as I got friendly service on the phone and at the front counter from a nice lady who is probably part of a family business BUT I used Google reviews to guide my purchase so am posting this so others know not everyone is giving this...

I’ve been eating at the Hong Kong Palace since my 16th birthday - 38 years ago and it’s still our go-to takeaway every month despite moving elsewhere, then returning with a husband & child. It’s inexpensive, the beef & seafood dishes are excellent, tender & flavoursome. They serve a large variety of lamb & chicken meals. The soups and all the entrees are very filling with decent portions. Guests from overseas are stunned at the great quality, personal service &...
