This negative review is for the staff. The food is excellent.

I have always been a regular and loyal customer of The Impressive Dumplings Sunnybank Hills store, choosing it to celebrate special occasions due to the quality of the food. Today was no different as we decided to have my birthday dinner with an order from here. I placed a takeaway order using the in-store electronic machine, with the order number k04.

The preparation took longer than anticipated and after waiting for sometime outside with my daughter, I went inside to enquire about the order. I was told it would be another five minutes so I decided to wait inside itself. Within a few minutes, my order was ready and the lady from the staff handed me my order. I appreciated the staff's gesture of including two coke cans as a goodwill token for the delay. However, my gratitude was overshadowed by a distressing incident that followed. As I was keeping the order bag in my car, the same member of the wait staff came out and asked if I was an Uber driver. When I replied that I was not, she asked me whose order was I picking up. I told her it was my order, K04. Then she apologized and I went back inside. It felt as though she made this assumption based on my appearance and ethnicity.

It's disheartening to face such presumptions, which are a form of subtle racism. This incident, especially in front of several bystanders, left me feeling humiliated. I am proud of my Indian heritage, and it's essential to understand that stereotyping individuals based on their nationality or appearance is hurtful and damaging.

While the food at Impressive Dumplings remains commendable, this incident unfortunately tarnished our special family evening. I hope the staff undergoes appropriate training to ensure every customer is treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Again, I hope this helps and leads to positive changes at the...

I’m still not sold on the name, but I will say that I'm more impressed after this second visit to Impressive Dumplings. Made a booking for dine in this time and ordered:

Pan-fried prawn & pork dumplings with crispy crepe (é²œč™¾ēŒŖ肉脆ēš®ē…Žé„ŗ), $13.50 Braised beef brisket noodle soup (ēŗ¢ēƒ§ē‰›č…©ę±¤é¢), $13.50 idumplings combo, $16.90 - with: ** braised pork belly steamed buns (ēŗ¢ēƒ§äŗ”čŠ±č‚‰å‰åŒ…), $9 a la carte ** fried Chinese golden bun (黄金馒夓), $7 a la carte ** pink grapefruit ice tea (ęø…香č„æęŸšē»æč¼), $3.50 a la carte

The dumplings and noodles were good, but it was actually the bun combo that left a bigger impression on me. It’s been a long time since I last ate some fried ā€œmantouā€ buns and the pairing with condensed milk is a hard act to beat. Enjoy while hot.

The steamed buns were also done quite well, with nice flavours from the pork belly filling wrapped in a soft and fluffy bun. A touch cheaper at $4.50 each normal price compared to some other places that sell similar foods for $6-7 apiece.

I’m glad I got a chance to eat the crispy crepe dumplings in-house cos the last time getting takeaway really didn’t do them justice. Having said that, I wasn’t blown away and felt that the crepe was more of a gimmicky element - other than adding a bit of a (largely tasteless) crunch factor, they don’t really do much for the dish. Give me a good normal pan fried dumpling/potsticker any day I say.

As for the beef noodles, wifey enjoyed them and said she would be happy to eat them again. I would eat them but wouldn’t really choose them if I were ordering. It’s a good-sized serving and I’ve no complaints about the taste or texture (both noodles and meat had good bite), it’s just that overall it’s not a dish I crave.

Lastly, the grapefruit tea was refreshing. Happy with my choice. Probably over-ordered a bit, but overall a fairly...

Food tastes great and priced normal. Soup rainbow dumplings was good and each dumpling tasted different. Xiaolongbao is very tiny and could have been made little bigger. Soup and meat filling tasted fresh and tasty. Customer service needs to be improved with trained staffs to politely offer guidance. They have a ridiculous method of ordering food. We need to give out our email id and credit cards details on their service website to prepay our order. Why would anyone give such personal information to order food in a restaurant? Where these data go and get saved? Wish they have changed the process to just the scan the table number with mobile to order and prepay or postpay in the counter. Technology is usually present to improve convenience and satisfaction but here it's made from good to bad experience. The two robots used to serve are loud and plays repeatedly the same music. It gets quite annoying after some point of time, since they move around quite often. Disappointed to see future technology and innovation being implemented without considering customer privacy & enhanced user experience.
