Our experience at Madame Wu was relatively average.

We’ve been on a mission to discover Brisbane’s best bottomless lunch and booked the Wu Weekender as a result.

The location of the restaurant and the views are difficult to beat. Most tables on the deck enjoy a prospect of the Brisbanes brown snake (the Brisbane river for non locals), however the ambience was lacking.

The greeting from the maître d was friendly enough, however we received some mixed messaging regarding the restaurant’s ability to accommodate a gluten free diet with the Wu Weekender banquet.

We eventually discovered that gluten free could be accommodated, however we would lose half the menu. We were also told the whole table would have to experience the gf options, which was a bit of a kick in the guts for my husband who missed out on half the menu for no real reason.

The service was hit and miss. After being seated we waited a good 10 minutes and had to flag someone down to ask for a drink. Further top-ups had to be requested or flagged down for the remainder of the afternoon. The exception to this was Taleisha (hopefully that’s how her name is spelled) who was the most attentive and friendly of the wait staff.

As mentioned, we’ve tried a few of these bottomless lunches in Brisbane and found this to be our least favorite experience to date.

Compared to Yoko, which is a similar location, at a similar price point and similar cuisine, Madame Wu doesn’t even compare to its competitor on HSW who can and will accommodate dietaries and who’s service is always attentive.

Definitely some room for improvement in the...

A good all round experience, starting from when we were greeted at the door, to when we finished our desserts. The restaurant is positioned on the riverbank, with a beautiful view of the river and the bridges in the background.

The restaurant itself is a Chinese fusion restaurant / modern Chinese. The food was definitely high quality and tasted amazing: scallop dumplings: highly recommend these 🥟 and would definitely have them again. There weren’t enough - the taste, texture of the casing, and amount of sauce was all perfect!! half duck: cooked so so well. The waitress told us something about them preparing the duck for 2 days or so before they are served. You can really tell. The duck was nice and tender, soft and juicy, and the accompanying vegetables were also very appropriate and complemented the dish mixed greens: a simple dish that we got to have our duck with. This was quite nice, with the veggies cooked to a good level, and a really nice sauce - definitely wasn’t bland at all!!! dessert - the cheesecake with macadamia crumb, coconut crème and yuzu ice cream was the perfect dish to finish off our meals. The mix of textures and flavours was perfect and I’d definitely recommend this dessert

The food was amazing, and the service was just as good. Our waitress introduced herself and interacted with us throughout our meals, giving recommendations and her own input. This made the dining experience even better!

Highly recommend Madame Wu. It is on the more expensive side, definitely, but from my experience here, it was...

A Culinary Symphony at Madame Wu's Perched above the Brisbane River, Madame Wu's offers a dining experience that's as breathtaking as its views.

Here's a glimpse into our unforgettable birthday celebration:

Opting for Banquet #2 on the balcony was a sensory stroke of genius. As we savored each exquisite dish, the Story Bridge provided a dazzling, colorful backdrop that added magic to the evening. Every bite was a flavor explosion, a testament to the chef and their teams skill in balancing and layering tastes.

But what truly elevated our experience was our waiter, Ewen (hope I spelled that right!). His impeccable service, attention to detail, and genuine warmth made us feel like VIPs. He navigated us through our dining experience with expertise, ensuring our glasses were never empty and our needs always met. To our suprise, we were spoilt again with our indivdual birthday plates and special shots to cleanse the pallet. Thank you, thank you, thank you, from the both of us. HONESTLY, we were truly grateful for this entire dining experience.

Madame Wu's isn't just a restaurant; it's a celebration of fine dining. From the stunning river views to the meticulously crafted dishes and top-notch service, every element comes together to create a symphony of sensory delights. If you're looking for a special place to mark an occasion or simply indulge in exceptional Asian-fusion cuisine, Madame Wu's is the place to be. Just be prepared - you might find yourself planning your next visit before you've even...
