While the staff are very lovely, accommodating, friendly, and do a great job! (Thank you massively to your team.) I had my 30th Birthday with Mary Mae's having found them via a google search. Andrew was professional and gracious in his communications and I was impressed with how accommodating he was of my regular advance booking for my party of 18 guests! I do wish that Google could give 2.5 stars because for me it was a very half and half experience. The food being their downfall unfortunately. Myself and my husband had lived in Sydney’s Northern Beaches for years and never has a venue tried to exploit its ‘prime location’ like this venue- in my experience. Ordered eggs Benedict the first visit at my birthday and the sauce was literally no more then a teaspoon in portion size, my husband’s dish the exact same. We like to give the benefit of the doubt, so we returned soon after for brekkie round two...we had the bagel which was alright but the bacon was overcooked and it was just way too basic; no pride for the dish had really been given. To top it off when my husband ordered my orange juice he observed the staff pouring the Coles No Name Brand juice into a class with a lot of ice.

I left feeling like the restaurant only cares about taking advantage of my money and was run on the assumption that people wouldn’t notice. The saving grace is that their coffee is very good in addition to their great customer service. Perhaps, I have taken time to offer this long review because I see the potential in this venue, and can see it becoming a great addition...

We were at Mary Mae’s for a small function. No one to greet you as you enter, nowhere you can obviously just ask a question so we had to find the tables by ourselves. We ordered a breakfast and my eggs were served with sourdough. The bread was way too toasted and was so hard I struggled to cut it without every thing flying everywhere. It also hurt my mouth as it was so hard. Both the salt and pepper containers were empty as well. No menus on the tables either which given this was an event with 25+ people was very poor. How hard would it have been to place 2-3 menus per table as they set up the tables. Even a QR code to link to the menu would have been great. No one came near our group to check we had everything we needed. I went to the bar later to order something else but couldn’t see a menu. I asked the girl who was placing completed dishes out for collection. She didn’t greet me, make eye contact or smile as I asked where I could find a menu. She simply snapped “they’re on the bar.” Didn’t offer to show me where, she was annoyed I’d interrupted her and it showed. Also the menus are placed on a box on the bar but no sign. I had to look a few times before I realised. These are really simple things to get right. Overall I was disappointed in the standard of the food and the service. My plate sat there for over an hour once I’d finished. Eventually someone came and collected it but it took so long I noticed it. I feel the staff have never worked in a service industry or haven’t had proper training in how to greet and deal...

If I could give this place no stars I would. I’ve been to many questionable places and never felt the need to write a google review but here I am.

Started the night off by not being able to find anyone who could help us find our table.

When we were finally shown to our table it had four menus (2 food, 2 drink) for a table of 10.

Booking was for 7pm, we ordered a bunch of entrees and drinks and by 7:45 we’re ready for mains, only to discover they had closed the kitchen without letting us know!

The manager was nice about it and offered to reopen part of the kitchen for us but it’s really not that hard to check on the one remaining table in that section.

We decided to finish what we had and go somewhere else, by which time (8pm) they were midway through packing everything up around us and closing the doors.

We had the calamari, arancini and burrata, which tasted alright at the time but I did spend the next morning very ill.

As someone who works in the service industry I was shocked by the lack of organisation and care.

The menu was also far too expensive for the quality of the food.

I’m sure this place is slightly nicer during the day but dear lord worst dining experience...

Excellent location along the river, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They have the capacity to cater for a large crowd, without feeling over-crowded. The food was tasty, but it wasn't particularly special. Also, when you order a meal with 'salad', I would argue that the customer expects more than a few lettuce leaves drenched in dressing. Why no tomato? Cucumber? Onion? Nothing but leaves. It was also disappointing that they have a drinks menu that includes cocktails and mocktails, but could not serve these on the day we visited as "there is no one that is working that can make cocktails". This is surprising that not one of the 6 staff they had behind the bar can make cocktails, but they can pour beer or make a mixed drink. For a place that looks so lovely, is so well situated, and is a bit pricey, I thought the lack of table service... kinda sucked. You go to the bar to order, they give you a buzzer, and you go to pick up your food, cutlery and condiments. The contrast between the lack of service and the location/prices, I really am not sure who their target demographic is.

I was fortunate enough to host an engagement party at Mary Mae's recently. I never bother to write reviews but i felt a need to put my two cents worth in writing this time. PROS 1. reasonably priced and extremely transparent - not typical of engagement and wedding party venues. 2. Great communication from Michaela the event organiser. 3. Food, fan-bloody-tastic. Rave reviews from all guest on the roving menu. Also dietary requirement meals at no extra cost, served directly to those guests. 4. highly versatile space in regards to wet weather planning, media and sound equipment etc. CONS - i suppose a valid review provides some room for improvement 1. some more assistance in taking gifts back to the car post event would have been handy, as the trolley was unavailable late at night. But im sure there is an easy work around to this. All in all, the event was a success and at a fabulous venue. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a party location.

We ordered a Picnic Hamper for Mothers Day. Firstly, the staff here seem like they all hate their life. It doesn’t give a very nice atmosphere. I asked about picking up our hamper and the disinterested girl behind the counter told us to ‘wait down the end someone will help you’. I still didn’t know where to go but went to the food pickup area and began waiting. No one acknowledged us or asked if we needed any help for about 10 minutes. We then had to interrupt them to ask about our hamper and we were told it still wasn’t ready (we arrived on time). They then gave us the hamper and we left. The food was fine for what we paid ($65 for 2 people). The picnic rug wasn’t really acceptable, as you’ll see from the photos. Here’s a tip, go on Alibaba and order some picnic rugs with your logo, incorporate the cost into the price and let the guests keep their own picnic rug with your branding so everytime they use it they are reminded of your company.
