New Farm Bowls Club — Restaurant in Brisbane City

Great venue for the Tuesday night Bug Unplugged gigs, but long rant ahead about the terrible choice of contractors the bowls club have for their food. Not only was the only gf AND vego item on the menu undercooked (gave me a terrible gut ache) but way overpriced for a small vege stack.

Adding insult to injury the food staff were really rude, defensive and not just to me but to another customer in front of me who had to sit on the side of the stage because she had been waiting so long to get get her food order sorted out that her legs ached.

They spoke to her so badly even though she remained calm as the guy who took her order almost barked disdainfully at her...and they were in the wrong. They not only not only gave my partner the wrong food they were incompetent and ended up asking him several times what he ordered and then gave him the wrong food. I will NOT recommend them. I wish some other business was there instead of them. They ruin the good name of the club as well as the ambience of the place. They care little that there are quiet musical acts on like it's basically all about them and they make a ton of what I, and many people on the night have said is unnecessary excess noise during the live local music (which is wonderful and most highly recommended). Great place to have our team end of year celebration. We did barefoot bowls which was genuinely so much fun, well organised by the club and the greens were in excellent condition.

The staff were super friendly and accommodating to all the large groups occupying the space at the time and seemed to keep up with all the events going on at this time of year.

We had a breastfeeding mum in our group and a couple of staff members made a locker room comfy and private for her to attend to her little one away from the crowds.

I did have one unpleasant experience with a young lady who was taking and serving bistro orders. I asked her for extra aioli with my simple chips order which she said no to but then when another guy in my group asked for it she was happy to give it to him! He also ordered the same thing as me five minutes later but got his order well before mine 😆 she must not have liked me very much or must have liked him quite...

We went to have dinner in January 2023. We had sampled Craig’s delicious food when he cooked for us as an in home private chef so our expectations were high. Even our high expectations were exceeded by the standard of the food. We had slow cooker lamb shoulder with creamed potatoes, broccolini and jus and it was absolutely excellent.
