Update – Response to the restaurant’s comment: The restaurant’s public reply is completely false. To be absolutely clear: I do not vape, and I have never vaped in my life. The claim that I was vaping inside the restaurant is a serious and damaging lie.
My partner and I paid the bill in full that evening (around $250 for food and wine). After paying, I simply asked for a takeaway container for the leftovers of the $90+ lamb dish. The young male waiter placed a box with no lid on the table, mocked me loudly when I asked for a lid, and then walked over to a table of young women, laughing and making comments about us. When I repeated my request, and started filming, he eventually threw the lid across the table.
I was shocked and humiliated. I also have video and photographic evidence of this behaviour. The restaurant’s suggestion that I was aggressive, refused to pay, or disturbed other diners is not only false but deeply offensive.
This update is here to set the record straight. I am more than happy to provide the footage to Google or the relevant authorities (Fair Trading) if required. She also reassured us several times that we could just take the leftovers home – ‘it’ll taste even better when heats it up the next day.’ After paying, I asked the young male waiter for a takeaway container. From the start he had been extremely rude, but what happened next was unbelievable. He came back and slammed down a disposable container with no lid. When I asked where the lid was, he raised his voice and mocked me, saying: ‘When you take wine home from a restaurant, do they give you the cork? No! Same thing here! there’s no lid.’ Then he walked over to the only other table (a group of young women) on Sunday night, clearly trying to impress them, and started making comments about me and laughing with them. I repeated my request calmly, and he kept insisting the container ‘has no lid.’ When I started filming (I have the video as the evidence), because I couldn’t believe how I was being treated, he finally came back and threw the lid across the table at me. He then stood with the group of girls, continuing to laugh and joke about us. I was shocked, humiliated, and honestly still shaken writing this. Organising a group event can sometimes be stressful, but Vita made the entire experience seamless. Her service was prompt, professional, and incredibly intuitive, she strikes that rare balance of being efficient while also deeply compassionate and caring. There was a real truthfulness and sincerity in all our dealings with her, which made a significant difference for us on such an emotional day.
On the day itself, the food was superb. Each dish was beautifully presented, delicately served, and generously portioned. The flavours were outstanding. Every guest at our table commented on how delightful their meals were. The kitchen team was exceptional.
The front of house staff were equally wonderful, very attentive, courteous, and always so approachable throughout the entire service. Nothing ever felt too difficult or rushed for them, instead, we were made to feel comfortable, welcome, and very well looked after.
Medé provided the perfect setting for our occasion. It was warm and inviting, a beautiful space filled with genuine hospitality and care.

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Medé for my 40th Birthday, and I can't thank manager Vita and her incredible team, especially Benson, enough for making our experience unforgettable. After another venue unexpectedly couldn’t accommodate us, Vita and her team stepped in at the last minute and not only found a space for us but also stayed within our budget, which I greatly appreciated.
The 3-course Mediterranean menu was nothing short of spectacular. Every dish was bursting with flavor, but the standout for me was definitely the bread with dips—absolutely divine! The swordfish was perfectly cooked, and the lamb shoulder was tender and full of flavor. Each dish exceeded our expectations.
What really impressed me, however, was how Vita and her team catered to the needs of our children. They took care of all the dietary requirements with ease, ensuring everyone was happy and well-fed. The kids were a little rowdy after sitting still for so long, but the team handled it with such grace. They kept the little ones entertained with colouring sheets, and the timing of the food was perfect, allowing everyone to stay engaged and enjoy the experience.
