Merlo Coffee Cafe | Bowen Hills — Restaurant in Brisbane City

I have been a loyal customer ever since I had a stove top and then buying a Giotto Rocket in 2012 at the Valley store. I used to purchase three kilograms of whole beans all through Covid so I have a strong love for Merlo. The last couple of times I have purchased whole beans at Bowen Hills, the roasted date is more than a week old. When I bought the last batch on 11 June, the roasted date was 3 June…eight days earlier. I remember fondly how the roasted date was a day before purchasing them. Is Merlo roasting too many beans? Am I buying them on a wrong day?

When I notified Louisa at Bowen Hills of this, she listened, welcomed the feedback and then, shock, horror, took it upon herself to provide a sensational rectification. The one thing you can always count on with Merlo Coffee is a consistent roast—the quality of their coffee is very reliable. OVERPRICED $6.70 for a cup of coffee that should be priced about $5.70 The coffee itself was made in a flash after I ordered it. However, the ordering process was a bit slow; I waited around five minutes to be served, even though the staff was friendly. I also ordered a pasta salad, and after a long bike ride, it really hit the spot and boosted my mood. While the location served its purpose as a good stopping point in Bowen Hills, I probably wouldn't make a special trip to return.

Everything about this place, is perfect! 5 star on all areas! We went for breakfast and only being open for 2 days; its running like a well oiled machine! I ordered a great dish! That I can only remember started with a Q? It came with two fried eggs, slices of spicy chill & a wonderful sauce, I cannot wait! To visit for breakfast or brunch again! When our food arrived, the waitress was beaming from ear to ear with a welcoming smile, announced what food it was, and finished with “Enjoy!” you cannot beat good food & great service!
