Cartel Del Taco - New Farm — Restaurant in Brisbane City

I wanted to share some feedback regarding my experience at the New Farm location on the 28 March 2025.

Unfortunately, we left quite disappointed.

Our reservation was for 6:30 pm for a party of seven, but upon arriving a few minutes early, we were told our table wasn’t ready and that we would need to wait as they were waiting for another party to leave. We were eventually seated about 10 minutes later.

When it came time to order drinks, we waited around 30 minutes, and one of our guests didn’t even receive their drink. We let this go, but it was frustrating. The food took almost an hour to arrive, which was disappointing, especially considering the long wait.

As for the food itself, the tacos were smaller than expected and did not justify the price. Additionally, we encountered a few issues: • We had to ask for water for the table, which wasn’t offered proactively. • One of the tacos had an avocado sticker left on it. • Drinks took much longer than anticipated. • The food came out in an irregular order: we ordered two lots of guacamole and corn, but they arrived at different times.

When I sent the feedback to their instagram I was offered a 10% discount on my next visit which wouldn’t even cover a plate of tacos.

Needless to say the table of 7 will not...

My partner uses a wheelchair, and is pleased with the accessibility and how everyone there goes out of their way to make us feel welcome.

The ambience at Cartel del Taco is vibrant and full of character—relaxed but buzzing with energy.

We love the tacos, especially the cochinita pibil and baja fish tacos, which are bursting with authentic flavours. The elote is a must-try, and I can never resist the quesabirria tacos—rich, cheesy, and downright addictive. Everything tastes incredibly fresh and thoughtfully prepared.

While I don't drink alcohol, I’m always delighted by their delicious mocktails. I love their milk and cinnamon concoction. It’s great to have non-alcoholic options that feel just as special and considered as the rest of the menu.

My partner does enjoy a cocktail, and he always raves about the tequila and mezcal-based creations. His favourites are the Blue Demon and the Cornstar—he says they’re perfectly balanced, creative, and packed with flavour.

It’s not just a meal at Cartel del Taco—it’s an experience, and one that makes you feel part of the family. We’re so lucky to have this gem right here in the neighbourhood. Highly recommended to anyone who appreciates fantastic food, excellent service, and a place where everyone is...

Insanely over priced, even for New Farm...don't bother. Hopefully a place that's open in the day time and isn't a price gauge moves in next year. Edit: you just opened a second location of an overpriced restraunt in a time when more people have less money than ever. A business that takes up retail space that is left empty for the majority of the time because you aren't open in the day time to service the community. The food is well prepared. And is still over priced for what you get. Local resident of a long time, hoping that the space in the area would be better used to benefit the community as a whole, not just a small sub section of wealthy people that you feed off of to buy a second home. Thanks for the over the top reply though. Great sob story from people getting rich off of being open a few hrs a day. And let's me clear, I support local cafes every day, i go to different ones, New Farm Deli is a bit expensive but it provides a good quality service and food. I have no problems with business' in the area in general, I have a problem with your overpriced bad idea of a business that is meant to only last a few years while...
