Sunday brunch and my 2nd meal in Brisbane was here. I saw their Eggs Benedict with Bacon and had a tough choice between that and what I was looking at the Collette Muertte (hope I spelled this right). I decided on the Collette Muertte looking forward to the Nduja (a pork sausage spread). It was a good dish but the Eggs benedict looked better, my egg were just set and I would've preferred a runnier yolk. Also not sure if I got the Nduja, the dish was supposed to be served with sourdough and some of the spread, while ok with not getting bread I would have liked to try the spread as I never heard of it. Enjoyed sitting outside, had a coffee and pot of tea. Returned on Monday looking for a good Italian sandwich, choose the La Grande. Enjoyed as well as the server was very attentive. Need lots of water with my meal to help with my allergies and he left a carafe of water for me to drink. This looks like a favorite and popular spot. Still have to go back for their Eggs Benedict. I also picked up items from their store.

This cafe goes straight to the top of my list, in Brisbane. It felt better than a 6 Stars hotel cafe, the service was exceptional - professional but friendly, but at the same time, it's so comfortable and wish I can sit there reading a book or something for the whole morning, like the guy next table with a stack of newspapers and a book! I will bring a book there to read next time, seriously. The Sicilian Brekky was delicious, beautifully done, and in a perfect portion as I can have - it's the first time in Brisbane I have a brekkie that make me felt just perfectly satisfied - not any bit more, not any bit less! Thanks to the chef! It was a very nice mixed of capsicum (normally I do not like it), onion, tomatoes, and spinach. Fantastic! The deli was all about Italian - I supposed one can get any Italian food stuff in there. I was there just about 7:30am with not many customers inside and outside, but by the time I left, most tables are occupied. This is a cafe well worth going back!

OK, I can't believe this ticks all the boxes - elegant atmosphere (but not pretentious), delicious food, reasonable prices for such a classy restaurant and the nicest service staff. I LOVE my pasta so I was keen to try this place. Amazing, authentic Italian (so fresh I swear they must have just killed the cow out the back for my mince🤣), the tastiest sauce and perfect al dente pasta with grated parmesan to perfection. I finished it off with a macchiato (the classic tequila shot of the coffee world), which matched the sweet, creamy baked cheesecake. And all for $38 and change. I drink a ton of water and I found in my waiter a true champion of the service industry because as soon as Id empty a glass, he'd magically appear and refill it, all with banter and helpful menu tips. I'll be back!

DEAD FLY FOUND IN DRINK - and encountered a serious customer service disaster during my visit yesterday. After dining with my family, I discovered a dead fly at the bottom of my iced chocolate drink. Despite initially intending to provide constructive feedback to the manager regarding possible kitchen protocol improvements, the situation quickly escalated due to the rude and dismissive attitude displayed.

Upon informing the manager (the owner’s son) and showing him the fly, I was met with an unsatisfactory response. Instead of addressing the issue appropriately, the manager offered me a free drink, to which I declined politely and he claimed that flies flying into drinks was a common occurrence due to the restaurant's storage of wine, stating, “there is nothing I can do about a fly flying into drinks. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME back there (kitchen I presume), because we store wine, and flies like flying into that and may also fly into your sweet drink.”

When my husband raised his voice in disbelief, the manager responded aggressively, escalating the situation further. My husband stated, “but you can’t say you cannot do anything about it,” to which the manager yelled and pointed at him, “DON’T YOU DARE TO TALK TO ME LIKE THIS,” and “YOU CAN GET OUT OF HERE NOW.”

Despite attempts to mitigate the conflict and reiterate my intention for providing feedback, the manager continued to justify his actions with irrelevant points, such as having offered a free drink and referencing past experiences of “looking after” our other family “very well”. These attempts to deflect responsibility only compounded the unprofessionalism of the situation. The free drink he offered does not take away the potential health consequence after drinking a contaminated drink. Not to mention one would have no appetite after this to drink another. Also having “looked after” our family before is irrelevant to this incident here.

In the end, he even requested, “the rest of your family may stay but you two can finish up quick and leave immediately.”

We did not leave immediately as told and as this was unjustified and waited for our family instead. During this time, I acknowledge two other staffs said sorry to us having witnessed this, except the manager himself.

Furthermore, upon reading previous reviews, it appears that similar encounters with the manager's rude and egoistic behavior are not uncommon. The unprofessional responses to previous reviews further highlight a concerning pattern of behavior from this business, as they consistently fail to take ownership of their mistakes and address customer concerns adequately.

In summary, the dismissive attitude towards food safety concerns and the unacceptable treatment of customers by the management raise serious doubts about the restaurant's commitment to customer satisfaction and public safety.

Most would agree that this shouldn’t be taken lightly, and if a business fails to take ownership of this, especially by reinforcing that FLIES FLYING IN HAPPENS ALL THE TIME, then perhaps one can only call for the Department of Health to investigate further base on...

So, went into the restaurant today Friday 18 July 2025 around 3:20 PMish, walk inside the women server behind till, ask her if they are open and still serving lunch, tells me yes they are and to sit anywhere outside and a certain area inside & she will come with the menu. 10 mins passes by, one server comes by to adjoining table. Goes back inside, I can see inside, a bunch of adolescent girls servers are wandering around pretending/appearing to do something unsure what? While no one is paying attention outside or noticing I have selected the table & sitting down including the server who said she will come out with the menu. while no one is paying attention, including the server who says to sit anywhere.

Another 5 to 7 mins passes by the server who had come to the adjoining table comes with the bill for that table after-which she casually strolls to my table and asks me have you ordered? Or you want a menu (which she could have done the first time around when she came to the adjoining table) no situational awareness. By then, I told her, does she see a menu in front of me. She tells me, you don’t need to talk to me like that, goes inside, comes & slaps the menu on my table and walks away.

Straight after, I get off my seat, first I thought of walking away, than decided, no, I do not accept this tone or attitude. I turned around and just as I was, this man (blondish hair) walks to wards me, i ask him if there is a manager, he says he is. I tell him, is there a system in your establishment or anything goes? where a customer is sitting at the table and no one cares to serve or pay attention. He points me to a sign where I had to wait at the door outside. I tell him, I was told (pointing to the server inside) by her to sit anywhere outside or inside, after taking my seat, no one bothered to come & address me, told him unsure what sort of show they run and walked away annoyed.

Appalling service, wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Management/owners, if you are reading, hire professionals who know how to address to customers. And show some respect towards paying customers who walks into your establishment, instead of hiring incompetent adolescents who gives out attitude instead of great...

We had a dreadful experience upon picking up a $75 Crab Lasagna for a special family event that night. We had specifically requested the lasagna be UNCOOKED as we were picking it up at around 1:00pm to eat for dinner at around 6:00pm that night.

Upon advising we were there to collect an order, the friendly staff member behind the counter presented us with a COOKED lasagna. Upon questioning this and stating that we had ordered it UNCOOKED, the staff manager said “sorry let me get my manager”. This is where it all went downhill very quickly.

The “manager”, an arrogant, rude man came over and abruptly stated “WHAT’S THE PROBLEM”. A little dumbfounded, we explained that the lasagna was supposed to be uncooked as we were eating it 5 hours later for dinner. The “manager” then said words to the effect of “DEAL WITH IT, it will be fine, I’ve saved you time, just stick it back in the oven or the fridge”. Again, absolutely baffled that a manager would speak to a paying customer like this we enquired that it might make us sick given it was seafood, He abruptly stated, “IT WILL BE FINE”.

After a heated argument he stormed off and left us with our lukewarm lasagna to eat at 6:00pm that night, this was at approx 1:30pm. The original staff member, also a little rattled at how the “manager” spoke to us, apologized profusely on his behalf however not so much of an apology from the manager for his disgusting behavior, not so much as an acknowledgment that he had stuffed up the order, no offer of how can we make this right for you mr and mrs customer, nothing.

To make matters worse, we followed his instructions on how to keep the lasagna edible until dinner time and every single person that ate it felt unwell. I hate to say I told you so mate, but I told you so.

What a horrible man, this is the second instance we have had the same behavior from this “manager” who clearly hasn’t got a clue of how to deal with paying customers.

I feel sorry for the staff members, and the owners of this wonderful restaurant having this man as the face of their business.

How appalling,...
