Itās a bit coolish weather so We decided to grab a Pho from Pho Hien Vuong. Iām strongly disappointed with the service especially the guy behind the counter. He was so rude, arrogant and as if I donāt understand anything. First, I politely asked for a menu (yes I know there were list of menu outside but we wanted to check other options and sides aswell so I rather ask for it instead of going back outside). He frowned at me and took the menu beside him and handed it over to me whispering thereās one outside. I didnāt mind what he said so I took the menu, browse and started to order.
I ordered 2 special beef noodle soup and he rudely ask if I wanted to take out or dine in. Iāve been clear that I wanted it to be taked out because Iāll be eating in the common area outside. Yet, he asked me if I wanted take out or take home. I said take OUTSIDE. He then rudely said āTake home, that means you have to take it home and reheat.ā I then lost my temper and I properly responded ā Yes I understand what you mean but I already told you I plan to eat outsideā with an upset tone ( Who wanted to be explained RUDELY if you are talking nicely??) He said āif youāll take it out that means it will just be on a take away bowlā. So I said, yes thatās fine. (Again, Who doesnāt know that if you wanted take aways you would be given a TAKE AWAY container instead of the normal bowl?)
I also ordered 4pcs each of pork springrolls and rice paper rolls. I kept on saying 4. He AGAIN responded with a rude tone 40???? I said, 4 and showed him using my fingers. After paying. He told us to wait outside by the door.
I was still so nice not walking out of their restaurant and still managed to respond properly. If there would be a zero star-rating I would give him that. You have to learn how to be professional and to have a good customer service. If you canāt just let someone else take over the counter and deal...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreArrived at 12PM and the seating situation was a mess. Several groups that arrived after us were seated first. Eventually we were seated and I was seated in the corner right beside a pillar of some kind. I barely had room to sit back without hitting my head but I just leaned forward to avoid this.
The menu was not descriptive at all - no mention of toppings on any of the items, just bare bones names with brief descriptions. Normally wouldn't be an issue except 2 of the people eating at our table had dietary requirements. The gentleman who took our order messed up the order 4 times because he didn't bother to write it down.
When the food arrived, the food had nuts which 2 of us couldn't eat. We called the gentleman over again and told him. He ignored us and walked out the back. He brings out another lady, who I suspect is one of the cooks, who didn't apologise for not mentioning the nuts. Just stated "Should have asked us to remove it beforehand" quite bluntly.
She took the food away and very shortly after, the food comes back out nut-free. However, since the menu doesn't mention dietaries, another person at our table felt ill from the food they ordered. We left very unsatisfied and feeling ill.
Tl;dr minimal info on menu, rude staff, poor compliance with dietary requirements. Don't come here if you want Vietnamese food - there's better...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt was a dark and stormy night... well actually it was a cold and rainy morning with storms forecast to come, and we were in search of something warming for lunch, specifically somewhere with undercover parking. Settled on Pho Hien Vuong Pasteur at Market Square, swayed by the presence of the new multistorey carpark š . But...took the wrong exit, so got rained on a little bit. Tip for next time: take the stairs/lift in the north-eastern corner for direct access to sheltered walkways on ground level.
Our order: no.8 pho, $14 (large) - special beef noodle soup with choice of rare beef and beef ball no.19 bun bo hue, $12 (medium) - spicy beef with round rice noodle soup, shin beef, steam pork, pork roll
I didnāt want to slurp my BBH and get the spicy soup everywhere but found the round rice noodles pretty tricky to handle with the metal spoons provided - really needs a proper soup spoon I think. Other than that I was pretty happy with this meal - comforting and totally hit the spot for...
