Update: one of my friends, who made the reservation, got a call from the restaurant asking me to delete the review and they offered us 50% discount on our next dine-in for that. I'm speechless by their response. :| They could have done a lot more in response than bribing us. So, I'm reducing my original rating. :(
I wanted to go to this restaurant for over 2-3 months now as it's name gave authentic Punjabi food vibes, but I was utterly disappointed when we actually went there last night. I'm giving 2 stars for the ambience and car parking on premise. Unfortunately, the food was unpalatable. We went there for a birthday party and ordered a few entrees, 6 curries, 1 biryani, 6 rotis and a few naans. Garlic naan was good, but nothing else. Rotis were undercooked and one curry was stale and was stinking. When we complained, the waitress took the curry to the kitchen and came back with it. She rudely placed it on the table and mentioned that it was prepared in the morning and that the curry smells that way. When we told her that we know how that curry should smell and taste, she...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLet me start by saying that Sardar G is an excellent Indian restaurant with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive, always happy to help and make recommendations.
When I visited, I asked for a curry that would be so hot it would make me cry. While I didn't end up shedding tears, I was treated to a lovely goat curry that certainly gave me some facial sweat! The dish was a delicious blend of spices, with tender pieces of meat that had been slow-cooked to perfection. The heat level was definitely on the high side, with a good kick of chilli that lingered on my palate without overpowering the other flavours.
Overall, I was very impressed with Sardar G and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves spicy and flavorful curries. The restaurant's commitment to quality ingredients, expert preparation, and attentive service make it a standout choice for anyone seeking an authentic Indian...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe went for a birthday treat of our friend and we ordered various dishes. Starters: Garlic prawn - it was cooked prawns in tamarind and garlic pasteš. The prawns tasted raw. It seemed to me like they mixed the prawns with pre-prepared gravy and heated it before giving to us.
Main course: Various chicken items including jalfrezi which i was excited about, since i was trying it for the first time. All the dishes are same, with different gravy!! They have chicken pieces tandoor-ied and added to the gravy just like they did with starter. Fortunately the chicken is well cooked though. In one of the items I could taste the rawness of mirchi powder too. The bread(roti) was not cooked properly, you could almost knead it again. Surprisingly, the garlic naans were good though. This is the most tasteless Indian food I had in a long time.
Ambience is decent. Service is decent. Hence...
