I have recently seen Wider Earth - by Dead Puppets Society - the Charles Darwin voyage. The Princess Theatre is absolutely beautiful and has a great court yard bar and atmospheric seating area all open air at the back. The show was amazing with the effects and puppetry and acting was different, all very special, I loved it!. I just wish I could see a bit better. From row L on the ground level, I was stretching and ducking my head to see the puppets which were often land animals so were level on the stage. The front 2 rows probably could see, what animal puppet it was performing. I could see many of the rows in front of me doing the same craning to see what was on the stage floor level. I think this was a fault of the stage setting, which could be elevated more with some platforms. No point in coming to see puppets, if they are out of sight, really. The seating unfortunately was a let down. The chairs were tightly packed (too tight during covid in my opinion). we were literally shoulder to shoulder. at times i had to angle one shoulder forward to be comfortable. It was a bit too cosy for my liking. Beautiful interior great atmosphere. I would like to go again, but only when covid settles down (as I was not comfortable being squeezed in) preferably if I can sit a little bit more spaced closer to the front (as the stage is too low for flat floor seating) or stand (at a standing...

I am a little disappointed with the accessibility though. Whilst there is seating, the mezzanine is only accessible via stairs. We attended a show (UK Drag) and doors still hadn’t opened well after 6pm, at which point my disabled veteran husband has been standing in line for 45 minutes. I politely asked one staff member if he could please come in to use the toilet, and she directed him to down the alleyway to the side toilets, which would have us leave the front of the line. A little while later I asked again another member of the door staff if the bathrooms were located inside at all, at which time she, and a male staff member were incredibly helpful, allowing him in and explaining the accessible bathroom options. Afterwards we were offered seats downstairs, but elected to make our way slowly up the stairs to sit in the lounge area that was offered. Which was beautiful and a much needed relief.
The show was incredible, as were the staff we interacted with throughout. I just feel further education on inclusivity and accessibility would be beneficial, especially if a show is running late (it happens!) as were joined in the lounge later by a heavily pregnant woman, and then later watched as elderly woman had to beg to be allowed to come up and sit (as per their tickets)...
Read moreSo Friday night my wife surprised me with two tickets to see Johnny Butler for my 40th, However the night started of fantastic great vibes as to be expected, Then a young stuff member came to me taping my shoulder and said I had to leave the venue for some reason.
I asked her why’s this and what happened to bring this on, This is no joke she said to my wife I think your husband has had to many drinks and he is way to friendly !!
which I find quite concerning as for someone who very rarely drinks alcohol, So I asked her again what’s the real reason she said it’s be we seen you trip over when heading up the stairs from the toilet! I laughed and your joking yeah she was dead set serious lol.
So to prove that I wasn’t drunk I showed her my bank statement that clearly indicated that I purchased 3 x drinks one for my wife and two lite beers for myself as I was the designated driver as I live out of country.
Considering I’ve been to this venue so many times over the past 10 years and never once had an issue with anyone or anything, I’m generally pretty antisocial stick to myself and then this happened my advice is Don’t trip over heading up the stairs empty-handed. All these guys will kick you out intoxicated or non-intoxicated pretty...
