I'm at Brisbane German Club and I have never been discriminated in Australia before until coming here.

During Oktoberfest, 27 October 2018 the guy (pictured) called for 6 girls to come up for a drinking competition. I was the 3rd girl on stage followed by another 3 girls. After he took the names of the first 2 (working right to left) he got to me and instantly said I'm not allowed to participate. Then proceeded to take the names of the 3 girls behind me(pictured). At this point he started claiming he only called for 5 girls. So the girls on both sides of me were telling him to remove their names so I could participate (since it is now only 5 girls). But he was ignoring everyone. At utter disbelief my partner went to the bar manager and the manager wanted nothing to do with it and completely ignored the situation.

It took over half an hour for the competition to start. While calling everyone back to the stage one of the 5 girls didn't show up. I was still standing next to the stage and he proceed to look for a random 5th girl to participate once again completely ignoring me. (pictured is the 5 girls with a new participant)

My partner waited for it to be over so he could talk to the guy in question. It was around an hour later after the situation first played out and I was still emotional and visually upset from being racially discriminated against.

During the conversation he was claiming he only called for 5 girls, he had no idea what this was all about. Completely dismissing and totally ignorant of the situation (I think because my partner confronted him in front of his wife and family). He also showed his note pad of the girls names he took and surprise surprise the list has 2 names followed by a dash then listing another 3 names(matching up to the original picture calling for 6 girls) and dismissed me as the 3rd of now 5 girls. Completely dismissing his claims I'm ineligible since he only called for 5 girls.

During this, His wife left the table and within 30 seconds we were quickly surrounded by 5 security staff. They were quickly brought up to speed and nothing happened with their intervention. Clearly a racist being defended by his wife who thinks they have absolute power inside the venue. Disgusting. Multiple German friends have commented saying โ€œolder Germans can be quite racist, itโ€™s horrible but does happen".

Good beer, terrible food. My boyfriend, who is from Germany, and I tried 16x different dishes and they were all very very bland and average. We were going as a weekly tradition for a month, because my partner wanted to show me the different dishes, however, he said NONE of them tasted like how they are made in Germany. They were definitely not the meals to ever order again, plus my boyfriend would eat part of mine (I could easily finish mine) and would still BE HUNGRY. The portion sizes were really SMALL. Most of these were from the old menu, but we ordered from the new menu and the portion sizes were SMALLER again!!! What surprised me the most was the extremely processed Bratwurst and sausages! ๐Ÿคฎ I have had MUCH better quality at a market stall! I honestly can not believe they sell that bad of a quality at the German Club!!!

My partners favourite dessert is Apple Strudel, and every time we were there, the dessert cabinet was empty and some things already sold out (and we would order at 6.30pm before the 7pm rush).

The only thing we didn't try was the pork knuckle. We were saving this for a Sunday, but never got around to it. I think it would be the only good thing on the menu to get

Overall, extremely disappointed. My German boyfriend was the most disappointed because this 'German Club' portrayed the food from his country in such a poor representation of the true flavours from Germany.

Edit reply: now a 1 star review as it is all FACT and for the unprofessional and pathetic reply by the owner. We kept going back because we were playing trivia every Wednesday. One of the ravioli 'meals' we received 6x tiny ravioli pieces, which was an entre size. And how do you know if my boyfriend was still hungry or not after the meals? Please tell me. And it was not just one average meal, it was several. Its a small place to be upsetting the locals who was bringing whole groups...

I am deeply disappointed and upset with the experience my party had at the German Club during our lunch today. While I must admit that the food was consistently amazing, I cannot overlook the major issue we encountered with the waitress and her attitude.

From the moment we arrived, there seemed to be a misunderstanding, which could have been easily resolved with clear communication. However, instead of rectifying the situation, the waitress persistently trolled us throughout the entire meal, subjecting us to uncomfortable and disrespectful attitudes.

It was disheartening to witness such unprofessional behavior from a member of the staff. The primary reason for my dissatisfaction stems from the fact that this is the first time I have encountered such unpleasant service at the German Club. The exceptional quality of the food should not excuse or overshadow the negative experience inflicted upon us by the waitress.

Despite the outstanding flavors and presentation of the dishes, the overall experience was marred by the poor attitude displayed by the waitress. Therefore, I am only able to provide a three-star rating, which primarily accounts for the excellent food. The negative encounter with the waitress significantly detracted from what could have been an enjoyable dining experience.

As a customer, I believe it is essential to highlight both positive and negative aspects of a dining experience. In this instance, the exceptional culinary delights were unfortunately overshadowed by the unfortunate behavior of the waitress. It is my hope that the German Club takes this feedback seriously and addresses the need for improved customer service and staff professionalism to ensure a truly exceptional dining experience for...

The authentic Brisbane German Club is ideally located at 416 Vulture St,Kangaroo Point QLD 4169. This fine club caters to everyone's tastes when you want to enjoy original German foods ๐Ÿ˜‹ You can enjoy pork knuckle, the original pretzels which were absolutely delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹ Leberkase meatloaf is another fine meal to enjoy along sauerkraut, on their menu you can try all forms of sausages and array of potato, whether it be baked or mashed๐Ÿฅ” The Brisbane German Club has a fine array of irresistible German desserts and pastries such as apple strudels and black forest cakes. The typical Oktoberfest dessert is apple strudel and yeast dumplings with vanilla sauce ๐Ÿ˜‹ The Brisbane German Club has a large range of German beers on tap you can always ask the friendly bar staff what would be a beer of your choosing ๐Ÿบ The Oompah pah band play live entertainment ๐ŸŽถ on Friday and Saturday nights. The Brisbane German Club has the original set up in this establishment to enjoy an experience of fine foods, drinks and entertainment in a large beer hall environment. To be guaranteed of enjoying a visit to the Brisbane German Club pre booking online is strongly recommended due to its popularity ๐Ÿ‘ There is limited parking on-site with disabilities parking also available. There is street parking available within easy walking distance around the local area. The Brisbane German Club is located directly across the the road of the home of the Brisbane Lions ๐Ÿฆ, the Gabba, so parking on match days is limited around the local streets. Something is missing from the place but I can't put my finger on it. It's like the most average of average places you could go. Food is average. It comes out luke warm and isn't seasoned very well. The gravy is super salty and is either on the hob, boiling down for days (which i doubt because of its lack of viscosity) or it is a packet mix. Either way its kind of sad. Good gravy has the ability to elevate a meal so much especially in German cooking. Service was mixed. The woman at the bar was lovely and we explained to her it was our first time here. She told us what to do, ie. find a table and where to pay, but when we ordered our food we actually were given out to by the woman on the till. She didnt greet us only said "what?" As she looked at us from the till. She was very impatient and aggressive. I told her our table number and she laughed at us and condescendingly said " we don't have that table number" and then started serving other people. Ya see the thing with this type of service is, good service and kindness in generally costs nothing. Good service is an unmeasurable KPI of a business. You usually don't know you have poor service until you see a drop in customers at which point it's really hard to get them back. Ie. People will stop buying certain meals or drinks if they don't like them or agree with a price point but service....people just won't come back. I can see the popularity of this place in general, especially if I had a large group for dinner. The food comes out quick and there is plenty of space in the venue but there are better German places to eat in Brisbane. Would I come back here again. No.
