Excellent range of micro brewery beers, a few wines and cocktails too for those who want something else. A small but very good food menu. We went here with family and had some beer paddles, a NZ Sauvignon blanc, and an epic seafood pizza. Their tropical ale is excellent.
The pizza was spectacular - very garlicky (but not offensive in anyway), with plenty of fresh seafood. Highly recommended. We also had a lovely lamb pizza in the Greek style.
The staff were friendly and helpful. We'll be back for sure.
We've been back several times and the food is always consistent.
Today we had the prawn twisters that we beautiful. A tiny bit sour, good chunks of prawn, perfectly cooked. Easy 9/10.
Then we had the capricciosa pizza, which was also excellent.
The place has a very nice atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, and an excellent beer and wine selection for the fare at hand. Easy to recommend.
This has become one of our regulars. Always consistent food and interesting beer on a rotating menu.
The food menu has changed a little[le bit, and it's still good, but I hope chef brings back the prawn...
Read moreWe arrived and found the place looked really good, the atmosphere was pretty cool, and in a nice spot, just next to Captain Burke Park.
Drinks we're good, but they we're having a problem with the pizza oven, so our group and a number of others needed to change our order. This threw off their entire service for the evening, and some of our group ended up waiting over 2 hours to get some wings and sweet potato fries.
The manager was doing the best job he possibly could, going to each table and offering substitutes, drinks and refunds to try and make amends. But the rest of the staff seemed to struggle with the chaos, some of them getting confused with what orders were going where, and others becoming frustrated and short with customers questioning time frames.
On the whole it was a pretty disappointing evening. I understand the challenges faced when equipment fails, and the manager should be commended, he did everything he could, given the circumstances. But it felt like the other staff did not share his attitude towards customer service and our experience...
Read moreThis is not particularly a crack at Sealegs; although it clearly is. Pros: They make their own beer. Cons: It's like Newstead brewery game plan. It's colour by numbers, but hayhoo. Drinks are 3-4 dollars more expensive than an everyday hotel. But, I'm missing the point of hand pulling an indiscriminate glass of beer from a tap. Is it a pot, schooner or pint? Hand pulled pizza base or hand brushed wings. What's that? Is that a twenty buck pizza and some chicken farm wings that have been given some love? The fried cheese needs a wedge of lemon or lime. See I have actually been here. It's too warm; the interior is a repurposed shed that has had no thought about making it nice place that overcomes its premium prices. Some art, some AC?
The pale ale was ok. And it would be ok to take/meet people you already know. Chances of striking up a conversation at the bar with a random = very low
Good luck to the people who have put their money into this and well done for having a go. Just not good enough to justify the...
