Went for a friend’s birthday dinner. It was amazing! I had the Greca vegan feast, and feast was right! All of the food was amazing! As someone who is only recently eating a vegan diet, and still remembers what non-vegan food tastes like, it really blew me away. I didn’t feel like I was getting an alternative. It felt like it’s own amazing meal and I never felt like I was missing out. There was so much food as well.
The marinated olives, pita bread with dip, and salted zucchini cucumber vinigarette with almonds was an amazing start. And it just got better from there.
The wild weed pie and village salad was so delicious. Especially the pie. Oh my gosh.
Then the egg plant moussaka and the fried veggies were both so delicious. I aspire to prepare vegan food that amazing. I feel like eating the fried veggies improved my quality of life.
Then I had some of the watermelon with ouzo and mint. I normally wouldn’t have ouzo because I can’t handle the taste of strong alcohol. But I highly recommend taking a shot in the form of ouzo soaked watermelon. It definitely takes the edge off.
The atmosphere was so amazing. There was a wonderful vibe, and with the place filled to the brim, I could still hear everyone at the table when they were talking, even with my intense adhd.
The service staff were very understanding and flexible. They were so kind and made sure to ask whose birthday it was and wish her happy birthday. I’m also just so grateful to the chef and waitstaff for accommodating my diet in such an understanding way with such delicious food. It made my vegan heart so happy to go to a restaurant that is famous for its meat and have such delicious vegan food, that really spoke for itself, rather than feeling like a cobbled together alternative like you can get sometimes. They also boxed up leftovers because there was so much food. And I think it’s at least two lunches and a dinner’s worth. So I’m even happier that I won’t have to cook for a few meals!
Even though the restaurant was packed, they were onto clearing dishes and asking if we needed any more drinks, while being very polite and unobtrusive about it.
The vegetarian in our group also raved about the food and so did the meat eaters. And even as a vegan, I can tell you that it all looked delicious and...

First to the food: Unfortunately, due to the views and the venues expenses, it's a little pricey. The quality seems fresh, but some of the dishes were a little hit and miss.
• The Tzatziki dip, pita, and olives were very nice, balanced, and favoured. Pita was nicely pan-fried or grilled. • The Tiropita was possibly the better of the dishes we ordered, which had nicely baked, fresh, flakey pastry. • The roast potatoes were nicely seasoned. However, either the quality of potatoes or overcooking made the inside very dry and plain. • The Ocotpus with fava puree and pickled chilli was well presented, but the Ocotpus itself was overcooked and chewy, and the fava puree was a little plain. • The souvlaki, chicken with yoghurt seseme, was flavoured nicely. However, some pieces were slightly overcooked, and parsley garnish was thrown over the top, which didn't seem like a 5-star presentation. • For dessert, we tried the 'chocolate, whey caramel, mastiha, halva'. As a first time, I can only describe this is, as a layered mousse. Part sweet, part plain to cut through the sweetness. Luckily, we shared it because this dessert was far too much for one person. Also had an espresso with the dessert, which tasted alright, but a little on the over extracted side (burnt due to their coffee beans being grinded a little too far to the fine side).
Finally, the service: We booked well in advance and were sat outside with a good view as requested. While the service was "friendly" from the male waiter, it felt rushed throughout the 2 hour booking. Hovering is never a nice feeling. Another waiter grabbing plates in an effort to push us along. As a previous restaurant owner, I can understand why, however, as customers, this brings a feeling of being welcome a little less favourable and customer service less genuine.
Overall, Greca is an 'experience' restaurant you go to for the views and to look fancy for a night. We took some friends here to experience Brisbane, and they enjoyed it. That's what counted. So if you're after the same,...
Read moreWe dined at 5:00pm on a Saturday evening on the occasion of the birthday of one of our daughters. We booked a few weeks I advance and I heartily recommend that you book - this place is always busy. Nearly everyone I know lists Greca as one of their favourite places to dine.
This was about our fifth visit.
We were greeted warmly by the staff and had wonderful seats overlooking the river. The setting is truly remarkable.
A shout out to Cassie, our server, who was affable, knew the menu, had a few great jokes, was attentive and superb.
The menu was vast, with a balance of dishes on offer. This was perfectly partnered by the drinks menu, with wine, beer, cocktails and mock tails.
I recommend that you get plates to share, as sampling the broad and sumptuous dishes is one of the very many attractions.
GET THE CHEESE IN HONEY. IN FACT, GET TWO. It was surprisingly incredible.
The dip and bread were the perfect partner to the cheese.
The sardines were subtle and tasty, with the accompanying tomatoes having exactly the right amount of sharpness to counter the cheese.
The three cheese tart was also a show stopper, with exquisite pasty and the cheese flavours folding in on top of each other.
The lamb had the perfect amount of fat and we were all digging in. The chicken was the same - tender and deeply flavourful.
The potatoes were soft in the middle, with a delightful crunch and pop. We also ordered a vine salad that had me cynical, then eating my words.
We finished with the lemon meringue pie to share and it was the best ending to a wonderful meal.
We then kicked on at Felons…
