5/5 coffee, 2/5 food on the recently released full menu at Toby's Estate flagship store. I've been getting coffee here occasionally since opening and it's always been good, with a nice rotating selection filter and espresso roasts. The baristas are friendly, skilled, and happy to offer advice on coffee beans. So: everything you'd want in a coffee shop. Unfortunately the attached kitchen isn't up to scratch. Now that they're offering a full menu we decided to try the Beans Bowl with eggs (+$4) and the Ricotta Pancakes. Took about 30 mins from ordering until the food was delivered on a not-particularly busy day. Beans were served lukewarm with a cold spiced yoghurt on top that made all the beans under it even colder. It was so bad that I sent it back to be microwaved (I hate being that person but I was hungry). It came out a little later at the correct temperature but the re-heating over cooked the eggs. Flavour was fine, perhaps a little sweet due to the yoghurt. For $22? Bit of a joke. Ricotta Pancakes were also served lukewarm and where fry and floury to eat. Not sure of this is because they were no longer hot or if it's how they always are? My parter is terrified of sending food back so she just ate 3 bites and left the rest. I did mention this to the staff when having my food re-heated, they didn't seem overly concerned or apologetic? Most places might offer a free coffee or even offer to re-cook the meal but not here. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that it's teething troubles with the new menu, but I won't be eating here again for a while. I will however be back for coffee. Great coffee staff and product. Just not the cafe food.

Also, lots of little flies around. About a dozen in the food cabinet where the pastries are. Should probably get...

Nope nope nope. Fancy new place but they intentionally refuse to serve skinny milk. Likewise for lactose free milk.

I can’t for the life of me understand why you’d do this. In the heart of Newstead! Almost Every street has a gym on it in this suburb and people are so keen to keep fit, that refusing to serve low fat milk is absurd. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I want to enjoy my milky coffee without it tasting like a dollop of cream has been added to it, so I’ll only drink skinny (both for the taste, and the lower calories). But to also exclude lactose free milk just doesn’t make sense these days too. 🤨 Unless you like plant based milk alternatives, high calorie full cream or black coffee, they’d rather you go somewhere else. Take your pick as Newstead is full of amazing cafes (almost as many cafes as there are gyms), serving beans from artisan coffee roasters, every single one of which will cater to all coffee lovers equally. It really is so disappointing as the venue looks amazing and so do their...

I had a terrible experience at Toby’s Estate Coffee Roasters in Brisbane. I purchased coffee beans, and the staff initially charged me for just one bag. I asked twice if this was correct, and they confirmed it. However, while waiting more than ten minutes for my long black, the staff informed me there had been a mistake with the payment.

When I spoke to the manager, she insisted that I pay again for both bags of coffee beans and wait for a refund for the previous incorrect charge. On top of this poor service, a barista rudely told me there were no food orders, even though I hadn’t ordered food in the first place. I had arrived before some customers who were dining, yet my coffee still hadn’t been served. This lack of respect and professionalism from the staff was unacceptable.

Frustrated, I decided to cancel my order, request a refund, and leave. I’ve lived in Australia for around nine years, and I’ve never encountered such poor service. I do not recommend visiting this...

Honestly very average. Cafe was open but serving in takeaway cups only. Asked to see the food menu and they had to go find who had the single copy that was printed (seriously). Ordered a magic - it was just passable, nothing great. Food was also just ok. Understandable that they were running a minimal crew between Christmas and NY, but why open if the experience is going to be lacklustre?

Wow what a fantastic addition to the cafe scene in Newstead! Honestly cannot fault the food, service, atmosphere or coffee. Everything was perfect. Honestly one of the best lattes I’ve ever had. ‘Eggs our way’ is definitely has their own unique touch on a classic menu item, great value for money and very well done. A new favourite!
