I went out for dinner with a group of friends (there were six of us) to celebrate a special occasion. Since it was raining, we sat at a large table inside the restaurant. As it’s BYO, we brought some wine and asked for six glasses, which were charged at $2 each — totally fair.

We arrived around 7:20 PM. I ordered a Pad Thai with vegetables and tofu, as I’ve been a vegetarian for many years. When the dish was brought out, the waitress noticed it had no tofu and took it back to the kitchen. However, when I started eating, I found several pieces of chicken in the dish. To avoid making a scene, my friends ate the chicken and I didn’t say anything to the waitress.

At 8:05 PM, without us asking, the bill was brought to our table. Then at 8:20 PM, our water and wine glasses were taken away. We were told we could go outside to finish our wine — but without glasses and under the rain. This happened while another customer was still eating at a nearby table.

The waitress was extremely rude. We felt rushed and unwelcome, just because they wanted to close — even though it wasn’t late. I’ve been coming to Thai Lucy for years, but this was the last time. It’s not the first time this same woman has been rude to me and my friends.

The food was wrong, but the service was even worse. Not...

Disappointing Experience at a Busy Small Restaurant.

We recently visited this small restaurant as a family with two young children. Our initial encounter with the waiter was pleasant as we placed our order. However, our experience took a negative turn with the middle-aged waitress, possibly a manager, whose rudeness left us disappointed.

The cramped space forced us to leave a prime under our table, a situation that seemed to inconvenience the staff. Unfortunately, no one offered assistance despite the crowded environment. The middle-aged waitress, rather than helping, made matters worse by expressing her displeasure and pushing the prime deeper. This not only made our child uncomfortable but also scared him, leading us to a very unpleasant experience.

When we suggested moving the prime ourselves, the waitress insisted it would make her job difficult and pushed it even further. This unnecessary behavior added to our disappointment and created an unwelcoming atmosphere for our family.

For food, the starters were enjoyable, but the Tom Yum soup failed to meet our expectations in terms of authenticity.

In summary, the overall experience was marred by the rude behaviour of the middle-aged waitress, making it challenging for us to fully...

This was the worst Thai we’ve ever eaten. My partner was craving Thai so we came to Thai Lucy’s for our Valentine’s Day dinner. The curry puffs were undercooked, soggy, and served with a dip that was like watered down HP sauce. The chicken laksa had no authentic Thai flavours and was more like an Indian curry than a real laksa. My partner’s duck and lychee curry was filled with frozen vegetables and had two pieces of duck that tasted a week old! The singular waitress ignored my partner and I both when we each tried to get her attention to ask for the bill, and the owner was abrupt, rude, and obnoxious. When my partner went to the counter to ask for the bill and some take away containers (so we could take the food to our chickens) the owner snapped at him “one thing at a time”. When she came to the table she picked up our bowls and straight dumped the food into containers because she “better show me how to do it” as if I was encapable of transferring food from a bowl to a plastic container. The food and service was so terrible we didn’t even want to pay for the meal, but we did and it cost $79!!! Ridiculously overpriced and disgusting. Never going...

Stumbled into this place in a laneway in Byron. The place was buzzing, as were the other neighbouring restaurants. We grabbed a table as someone just left and it was cleared quickly from the previous dishes. The staff were super busy which may have contributed to the average service. No niceities, just order and get it done. Fair enough. Food was awesome, we had chicken satay skewers, spring rolls and a vegetarian green curry. All were top notch and super tasty. Good size portions and the rice in particular was very generous. Would definitely return and work my way through the extensive menu. Great place.

No oyster sauce, no chicken stock—everything truly vegetarian! This is rare for Thai restaurants, so we were thrilled. We enjoyed several vegetarian dishes and loved the food so much that we returned the next day for dinner. No wonder this place is packed every night! We had red curry, green curry, wild chili basil, and fried rice. Out of all the dishes, the wild chili basil was our favorite. Caution wild chili basil is really hot.

We ate at Thai Lucy after experiencing decision paralysis on where to have dinner. In the end our decision making was not sound as it was a very average meal (it may very well he adequate for beach town standards however as it was packed every time we went by). It’s a very small space and I liked the interiors but the pad see ew lacked flavour and as you can see from the photos neither of the dishes were particularly inspired.
