Read moreOMG, what a hoot!! First time having a Brazilian BBQ experience, and it won’t be the last!! However, we think anywhere we go next will be a letdown after the exciting adventure we had at Bushfire Cairns. Thanks to our amazing host, Rafael, who read the group excellently and made us feel like we were VIP diners. He played with us when appropriate and presented what we needed to know (regarding the green, yellow, red blocks and how the carvers bring the skewers to the table) in a joyous but professional way. We knew we were in good hands! A selection of interesting starters came out shortly after, including watermelon with feta, pumpkin seeds, garlic cheese balls, and something wafer-like. All divine! Then, four generous sides to share came out—rice, beans, and a couple of other things I can’t quite remember. The whole lot were delicious. So far, it was already a delightful experience. Then the carvers came out with the first meat skewer—beef. Yyyuuummm. Then the pork. OMG OMG OMG!! Nothing better. Then the shocking decision crisis kicks in: have a little more because it doesn’t get better, OR hold out for the lamb? Ahh, it was hard. But the lamb was worth waiting for. Soo good. But wait, there’s more!! I don’t like fish or kangaroo, but the rest of our table were raving about them just as much as everything else presented to us. As long as our block was green, the carvers kept coming. Damn, it was good. Feeling full as a goog and satisfied to the max, they brought out the fried pineapple on a skewer. Can’t possibly fit it in… but to hell with that—must have it. By this time, we felt like we’d had the best dining experience ever. We turned the block over to red, and they brought us churros and ice cream. At that point, I started feeling emotional and wanted to move in then and there. We did leave eventually, and we’ve already started looking for flights to come back to Cairns just for this adventure again. Bushfire Flame Grill is not just a restaurant—it is a...
Read moreWe arrived half an hour early for our booking, as we were ecstatic waiting for the re-opening,
However 30 minutes into waiting our order for food was finally taken, understandable as it was a full house.
Took an extra 25 minutes for the starters to arrive, we didn't wait to long for our sides to arrive, however we waited an extra 30 mins for our mains to arrive, by this time our sides had gone cold, we had a waiter and waitress chase up the guys floating around with the meat skewers just so we could have at least one type of meat.
the guys with the skewers were avoiding us like the plague, served tables beside us looked at us and diverted past us, when we finally got some beef, server dropped meat sauce on my partners white dress.
We ended up leaving before seconds and desert after 1 hr and 45 mins as we had high expectations, within 45 mins it felt like for the quality of the food was less than McDonalds,
We felt like a burden on waitstaff as we had to continually ask for meat. And even when we received the meat it was bland and cold. No salt and pepper was offered on the table and nothing was seasoned. I was just expecting something a bit more for the price.
However, the wait staff were exceptional and organised a manager without us even asking as she was appalled with the service from the kitchen staff that we were receiving,
I would put one star but the waitstaff, manager and drinks made it somewhat bearable. Even though we ended up ordering uber eats when we got home I am glad we didn't pay full price for this mediocre experience. I will be staying away from this place for a long time and be advising others to do the same.
To add to insult the music was so loud we were basically yelling at each other just to have a conversation, it was a great date...
