Unfortunately my first time here at Super Tetsudo was both disappointing and unpleasant.
Before focusing on my negative experience, i will give a broader overall rating:
The service received is excellent, the wait staff are friendly and helpful, ready to assist customers in navigating the menu and they all acknowledge new customer arrivals with the traditional Japanese greeting. 5 stars for service.
The restaurant itself is bright and modern with neon signage and a very good sushi train. They are fully licensed and serve a range of beverages from beer to saké. Which is great, you can't have sashimi without a little saké, right? 5 stars.
The majority of the offerings on the sushi train, that i saw, would be what i'd call, "modern fusion" Japanese. It was well presented and certainly would appeal to a wider palate, but is not really my "cup of Sencha", 4 stars.
They do have an extensive menu and serve all the traditional Japanese dishes, including raw maki, nigiri and sashimi as well but after my bad experience, i never made it to try the sushi / sashimi and i would be shy to order directly from their menu again. Though i am not likely to be a returning customer anyway.
I took a few of the more expensive plates from the sushi train, and they were nice. A bit lean with the thinly sliced strip of raw salmon, but again, this style of fusion sushi would appeal to the broader audience and they were well presented and that seems to be the consistent theme. 4 stars.
I then ordered two cooked dishes from the menu. The total cost for the said two dishes was over $35. After my first few bites i did not consider them to be worth more than $2 each dish and if i had hindsight, i wouldn't have ordered them even for $2 for both dishes. After eating those dishes i started feeling unwell in the tummy, with an overall "gross" feeling of unwellness, and no this is not from bacterial/contamination, it's not that.
I felt unwell all night and into the early hours of the morning. Not only did i NOT enjoy those dishes but my body did NOT enjoy "working" them through either. That's all i'm going to go into with regards to that. ½ star? Nah. 0 stars? Nope.
-2 stars.
My whole unpleasant evening cost almost $80. I was going to order some traditional sushi from the menu for take away to eat later. Glad that i didn't, regardless of the quality of their traditional sushi/sashimi, i wouldn't have been able to eat anything else later that night anyway.
If you just eat from the sushi train you will be fine, at least you can see what you...
Read moreVery average food for long queues not managed adequately by staff especially when people just sitting in there and not eating. Also noticed large families sitting on the smaller tables and then two people sitting at the bigger tables. Also noticed singular tables not being utilised when at least couples sit there. They only put people who were alone on that side. I don’t recommend coming here if you’re starving because it all adds up and the pieces are so tiny and it takes so long to just get a seat during their peak hour. Aburi sushi was nice but very small and very expensive for two tiny pieces. Lion King sushi was tasty. Also liked wasabi spider roll (2 peices) Don’t recommend getting the expensive mushroom taco it was expensive one small item over $10. A lot of people getting the house speciality sushi/ trays of sushi probably better value for money if you like that specific sushi, because when you keep adding the tiny plates or sushi, it gets expensive. Be aware of the plate colours and pricing. We spent over $120 for two adults and one child and I was still hungry afterwards. The food that I had ordered had taken a while to come out and one of the dishes didn’t come out so I asked again and then I got two of the same thing. Not sure how much different this place is from Jaws and I can’t see what’s so special about this place. These type of places have been around for ages. Also, I question the freshness of some of the food that has been going around the food train as you don’t know what time it’s been...
Read moreUse to come here all the time. The waitperson was very rude! This should be Super tetsudo should be named as super rude. He asks for the id and he just walked around making customers wait in front of the door.
I am verrrry disappointed!
Ps, the lady at the front was nice though. So just this guy has a bad attitude, if you don't see him. You might still have a lovely experience.
Since I’ve gotten a reply, as I said it was about the id. We were being reasonable at the first place maybe we were looking for the id a little anxiously because we didn’t want people wait after us! We would love to follow the laws but we have rights to be treat nicely and politely, where that waitperson just ignored us and we waved at him when he walked pass us 2-3times and the other lady approached to us and asked how can she help but apparently she wouldn’t have any idea when we showed her the id or proof of vaccine. Then he approached to us and said we made him wait 5 mins! Well, he was the one made us wait because he was walking around ignoring us and when we started talking to him to when we left wasn’t not even 5 mins. Is that clear?
To be fair that lady is nice every time we see her, clearly that waitperson is new and we had bad experience from him.
I think I had made myself clear and fair. Sushi is nice here, other staffs are nice here, except him. Don’t understand what he tried to turn up some chicanery at that time and don’t understand what the owner tried to argue or explain under my...
