Sushi Musa - Belconnen — Restaurant in District of Belconnen

I came here today for a late lunch/early dinner, and i have to highlight the fact I saw the sign that nothing would be made to order at the time I arrived due to the kitchen being closed no doubt to prepare for dinner rush.

I assumed all would be well though as I am normally a salmon and avocado girl and well surely that’s be on offer. So, I sat down and prepared my wasabi, soy, ginger mix and then turned my gaze to the belt that would deliver delicious treats straight to my belly.

I was starting to feel a little disheartened as I notice everything coming out with the demonic cream cheese that neither agrees with my palate nor my internals…destined to settle for the salmon on rice combo I was disheartened to say the least.

When I voiced my concerns politely to the server though, she reminded me kitchen was closed, but went ahead and asked chef if he would make an exception. This chef generously offered me up not one, but two cheese free, salmon and avocado options that were absolutely amazing. It just made my day.

Thank you so much for making an exception for the cheese impaired on a Sunday...

Disappointing Experience – Not Worth It

Tried calling Sushi Musa Belconnen multiple times to book a table for my son's 10th birthday dinner, but no one answered. Decided to go in person at 7:15 PM (they close at 9 PM), only to be told the kitchen was closed—leaving us with whatever was left on the sushi train.

It was our son's first sushi train experience, and it was far from impressive. The dishes were old, stale, and unappetising, with hardened edges from sitting out too long. He tried one dish (calamari), which wasn’t even fresh—just warm and gooey texture - it had probably going around the rounds on the train more than I have had birthdays...

To top it off, staff clearly didn’t want to be there. By 7:30 PM, they were already turning away new customers, well before closing time. Felt rushed, paid full price for subpar food, and had to find another place to eat.

As we left at 7:35 PM, my son summed it up perfectly: "We should just stick to the sushi we usually get."

I am uncertain how this restaurant has received a four-star rating. Perhaps we visited on an off day, but the sushi appeared unappetizing. Despite this, we decided to try a plate of chicken and avocado sushi, which turned out to be the worst we have ever had—lacking in flavor, cold, and hard. After this experience, we promptly paid and left. One basic sushi plate was priced at $6.00. When I inquired at the cashier how long the sushi had been sitting out, I was informed it had been there since 2:00 PM, and we were dining at 8:10 PM. While I appreciate the honesty, I was quite shocked. Additionally, there was no greeting upon our arrival or at any other point during our visit. We will not be returning.
