The quality of food from ChongCo really waxes and wanes over periods of months. We've just finished a really good six months of very high-quality food, but today's beef Massaman was absolutely disgusting – it's like somebody accidentally put all the fat trimmings in my meal instead of the actual meat. We've noticed other issues too, such as getting very hot chilli when you order mild, and the Thai beef salad is now ridiculously tiny. It looks like we're entering another bad phase for Chong Co.

These guys have really gotten their act together. Now just about every time we order their food we're stunned that it's somehow gotten even better. The flavours, preparation, care, it's all been consistently excellent for the last few months!

Last night's Thai Beef Salad was awful. The meat was old and had that turning-rancid taste, and the meal was thrown together with little care (enormous leaves of lettuce, enormous chunk of meat... I think they were busy last night and the chef was trying to speed things up by putting stuff in whole instead of slicing it up properly.)

Having said that, ChongCo are usually fantastic - terrific flavours and generally very well executed. But every so often I get an awful meal from them. Maybe they don't supervise new...

We organised our Christmas Lunch for the team here. I tried to call multiple times the land line, which had a recorded message to call a mobile. The mobile then had a recorded message to call the land line. Both messages also said that Chongoco Belconnen would be open on 1 December after renovations. I ended up emailing to book a table for 12 December on 5 December. I got a reply on 6 December apologising and saying no issues. My boss called on 11 December to see if we could split the bill to be told that the restaurant is closed on 12 December. The person on the phone said that they had tried to call me (no missed calls or messages on my phone) and emailed me back (no emails received). I have emailed Chongoco attaching all the correspondence that we have had (one email from them to say everything is booked). The customer service is completely laughable. And to say they have tried to contact me is ridiculous. The email that I sent had my work land line (which has voicemail), my email address and my mobile number (which...
