We are regular customers here at Yat Bun Tong, but our recent experience was awful. We ordered and waited approximately an hour for our food to arrive when it usually takes 20 mins. 45 minutes in, we asked the waiter who took our order about our food and they said they forgot to put our order in. 15 minutes later we received our food but it was rushed. The brisket noodle was lukewarm as if it was sitting in the back all day, all the pan fried dumplings were all stuck together, and the spinach was clumsily piled on the dish. We complained and no staff came to apologise. When we went to the till, I talked to the manager and he wasn't even apologetic at all. As if he didn't care about the quality of service. He just replied with "Okay, I'll give you a discount." We got $6.80 back when the total was $136.40. A 5% discount! Its absolutely unfair what they gave us, they served 3 other tables and made us wait a bloody hour because some waiter forgot to put our order in. It's a shame, the food tasted okay but the whole experience was spoiled after the terrible customer service. Unbelievable.

Great flavour, huge choice of food, and these guys are constantly busy for eat-in and takeaway. We had the pork and chives dumplings and the combination dumplings which are chicken, beef and vegetable. The pork or and chives were great - not overly fragrant like some places so, and the flavour of the pork was great. Dunk these in chilli sauce and soy, and you've got a party going on in your mouth. Best of all, they give you 15 dumplings for the price! A full meal for one or a great share option! The combination dumplings were good except for the beef - they are surrounded in some kind of wet soupy sauce which left a bit of a tangy aftertaste that we didn't like. The chicken and vegetable dumplings were fantastic. Again, you get 15 dumplings in this option (5 of each). The rest of the menu looks great too. Lots of people shoot for fried rice, and the servings are massive. You just can't go wrong here, and with two locations in the City and at Belconnen, you have them at arms length whenever you want them. Bookings to eat in are not essential, but highly recommended.

We usually dine in here pre COVID-19 pandemic. I would say I prefer the interiors of this place as compared with the one in Braddon. It can be very busy though, so when dine-in is already allowed, it is advisable to call them ahead. In terms of food, I think the one in Braddon is a bit better and more consistent. Food is usually okay (not always fantastic) and I would have wanted to give them a 4 star. Today, however, we ordered our favourites for delivery (due to the COVID-19 restrictions) and I am greatly disappointed with the fried chili beef. The chilis were obviously burnt (you might see the black chilis in the picture), giving an annoying bitter taste. Husband said it was okay, but for me, it wasn't. Serving burnt food, I think, is a big no-no, especially for a business. To be fair, this was the first time that it had happened. I hope they would take some action and would be more careful next time.

This was always one of our go to places as the food is really good and reasonably priced. We would regularly dine in or get delivery.. Dine in service is a little lacking. The staff are not rude and are always professional. But they just don't seem to be happy to work there. They never seem to smile or laugh. Asking for something outside the norm like a small side dish of plum sauce for the dumplings ect seems like your asking for rights to their first born child. When getting delivery via either Uber Eats or Menuelog, we would put some notes in the order to change part of the dish, eg rice noodles instead of egg noodles. About 50% of the time this was not seen. This resulted in us having to call every time we ordered delivery, just to clarify that they saw the note. Recently we ordered 2 x combination soups via Uber Eats. The delivery arrived with just the Noodles, Meat and vegetables. There was no soup (it usually comes in a separate container) When we called the restaurant they made a 1/2 hearted apology and said they will have some more soup waiting for us and to please come and collect. After explaining we didn't have a car at the time, which is why we ordered delivery they just said OK then nothing we can do, call Uber and ask for a refund, thanks bye. A little bit later we were able to get a lift to the restaurant so called them to advise we would be there in 10 mins. On arrival the staff just handed over a bag with the soup and said goodbye. There was only another half felt attempt at an apology. Unfortunately this was the last straw for us and we will no longer be ordering from here. Fortunately for me I found a place just around the corner that also does a really good combination soup and...

I've been here 3 times. First was lovely. Food was wonderful and had a great experience. Second time, food was not great, none of it, we bragged to friends, brought them in and were embarrassed. Thirds times a charm right? Well the chef (very tall man out the back) was not. We ordered our food, dumplings good, brocoli good, rice was bland, Mongolian lamb was good, Dry fry chili beef was like eating a crunchy empty shell and cold. I asked the wait staff was it supposed to be cold, and he said he would fix it. They zapped it in the microwave and it came back steaming so I thought, oh joy because I was hungry. But it was still mostly cold. I was upset at this point because that was my meal and I was hungry so I called the wait staff and asked why it was still cold, he was quite rude and walked off saying 'liar', my 10 yo heard it. So we got up to leave because I had enough. As we were leaving the wait staff walked up and said touch the plate it is hot. I replied that it was not hot and why would I lie about it. We all know microwaves heat the plate hotter then the food. Then the tall guy out back starts going off, very loudly, in their native tongue, banging and another worker loudly chimed in. He also dropped the F bomb, twice! We stood in shock and I asked is this how he treats people and to have the decency to say it directly to me. We paid for our meal except the cold, old, beef. I'm pretty sure they will re heat it and sell it again. It's what mine tasted like. Never,...

We went out for dinner last night after seeing a movie, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. Upon entering the restaurant, there was no greeting, and the staff came off as rude and unwelcoming. We felt rushed throughout the entire visit.

When our food arrived, we noticed that the chicken dumplings were undercooked—raw in the center. We brought this to the manager’s attention, but he insisted the pink colour was due to the chicken being “fresh.” Despite his explanation, we didn’t feel comfortable eating it and left it untouched.

The waiter handling our table was neither understanding nor polite about the situation. We paid for what we had, and as we were leaving around 9:30 PM, the staff had already begun cleaning. One waiter was mopping from the entrance inward, and as a result, my friend slipped and almost fell on the wet floor. Instead of offering help or an apology, the waiter simply told her to "be careful." This could have easily been avoided if the cleaning started in areas away from customer traffic.

There was no accountability, no apology, and no regard for basic customer service or safety. Unfortunately, we won’t...
