This is the worst dinning experience ever. Main hot food come even before entree. The kingfish sashimi doesn’t make sense, the size will be the biggest you ever seen, they don’t cut through two pieces when half of it is already big, and ‘it is our style’, it is a fillet, not sashimi. The grilled cod, they don’t pick the bones, so be careful. AND THE WORST, they stack all the food on your table at once, and they serve nigiri at last after hot foods, IT IS NOT A DESSERT!!! And their reply is, ‘because your table is full, I will pack it for you to take away’. And there are many other things like they constantly take the plates before you finished it, not even bother waiting for your reply, and they dropped the haven’t finished Takoyaki on the table then put it back. It is a 200 dollars lesson for me and my friends. Oh yeah, when the nigiri did not come out while we almost finished, I wanted to cancel it, they don’t even bother to ask manager but say they can only take it away for us, and it is because our table is full so it come out last. They cancelled it in the end because I said you can charge me but I won’t take it anyways. This...

The food was packaged in recycled cardboard which I’ve never seen before but I guess is okay in terms of reducing plastic waste. The food however was very average. Some chopped iceberg lettuce with dressing, a couple of small slices of sushi roll, three slices of salmon sashimi, some reasonable tempura, tired rice and very ordinary mains that just weren’t well flavoured and fairly small. I have to assume those raving about the food just haven’t been to a half decent Japanese restaurant. The cost was extraordinarily expensive for what was offered. Japanese food is as much about presentation as taste and I give it...
Read moreMaji is an excellent place for all occasions. I've come here for both quiet dinners with my partner and celebrations. The restaurant has a refined modern Japanese atmosphere whilst also making it very approachable if you also want to eat by yourself.
After having dinner and takeaway from this place multiple times, I've found that they are very consistent. The service is also excellent, with the staff being friendly and attentive, even on busy nights.
The most of the dishes are tasty, especially their wagyu and pork dishes, but I'd steer away from the okonomiyaki as it tastes very bland and doughy. However, I feel that this is too small an issue to...
