KNOT JUST PASTA — Restaurant in District of Canberra Central

This place has gone downhill. It was never really a perfect place to eat, but it seems to be getting worse over time.

DoorDash pick up order on 11 June. We ordered mozzarella sticks which weren’t in stock. We were told by whoever was working there that they will contact DoorDash to process a refund. No such refund has yet occurred and it has been almost a month.

My multiple attempts to contact DoorDash and nothing has happened. I have also contacted the store who insist they have spoken to DoorDash about it, but there’s no evidence of that.

Upon going home and opening the food, what an utter disappointment.

The veal dish? Don’t even bother. Raw piece of old meat.

The tomato cream pasta? Watered down to the point where you can only taste pasta water. Gross.

The spaghetti bolognese? Where did this recipe even come from? It’s definitely not traditional and actually smells like vomit.

After complaining to the restaurant about this, the male on the phone said “sorry we are short staffed”. I’m sorry, but that is not an excuse to provide poor quality food to your customers, and especially customers like me who often order from you.

He offered a full refund through DoorDash but once again, no such request has been made and still no refund.

Be grateful that I gave you 2 stars instead of 1. Only because I once upon a time valued this restaurant, but unfortunately I won’t be back.

Updating my review and down to 1 star you go! Nothing I have said has mirrored my feedback? Have you even read most of the reviews you’ve received? Literally 1 out 3 people complain about the poor quality of food and you are constantly blaming it on “staffing issues”. Your food is mediocre at best. Why would you have an Indian chef cooking “Italian” food? You are not an Italian restaurant yet you serve only Italian based dishes. My advice- don't waste your time or money ordering from this place! Ordered from here or Uber Eats, the restaurant looked after the delivery themsleves I believe. Order took twice as long as what was listed to actually arrive, with no updates on what's the order was up to. Once I got my order from the awkwardly uncomfortable delivery driver who I seemed to be annoyed that he had to get out of the car to deliver my food to me, it was absolutely disgusting. The food was cold, the Bolognaise treated like nothing but olives (never heard of olives in Bolognaise before, last alone it being the main ingredient), and the Bruschetta was the saddest looking excuse for food i have ever seen... 2 small single basil leaves on each piece of soggy, balsamic drench toast with a couple of tomato slices on top of it, and not a whole lot else. The only part of my meal that I ate was the pre-made cheesecake (the little round ones that restaurants buy from a supplier not make themselves, so it couldn't possibly be wrong), the rest of the order went straight in the bin. Bitterly disappointed in this place, particularly when the food is so bad yet they still charge an absolute premium price for it. Very disappointed. Made table booking on line, thinking it was a proper dining restaurant - as intimated by their web site. The booking was confirmed, but on arrival, the staff had no knowledge of this booking. We should have been wary, at this point, as the "dining area" consisted of 2 bare tables stuck in the corner, and the only other people in the shop, were the people in the kitchen, and the Uber delivery drivers coming and going. The food was extra quick, which indicated to us that it was all pre-prepared, and probably reheated in the microwave. The garlic bread was passable, the carbonara was too much pasta and too little sauce making it a gluggy, cool, thick unedible mess, and the seafood marina was at least warm, but overpowered with herbs, the tomato sauce was overpowered by the tomato base, and was the cause of severe reflux that night.
