The Shed Cafe — Restaurant in District of Woden Valley

Staff treated my daughter disgracefully. Offered her a job then fired her before she’d even started . The staff member smsd her Lying about quitting herself, saying she hated what her boss did and world quit in protest …. But today- walking past the cafe- there she was- having her lunch. And picking her nose while at sitting in your cafe with her apron on. And I waited to double check if she worked there and Sue enough she went being the counter and began to serve.

Yeah won’t be going here ever again. You know people you treat this way have families right??? We are locals, this is our community ! you were horrible to her and she was so ecstatic to start working for the cafe our whole family went to regularly. We will be going to another cafe from now on.

And before you come at me about truth we have screen shots we will take to centre management if you try that.

Calling them and explaining I didn’t have the wrong cafe! They came at me in defence- Telling me they had not hired nor fired anyone in the last couple of years repeatedly… shows you did not even read….. I told you! I understand that! however, you lead my child on! And guess what?!?!??? they started saying it all over again again! Completely tone, deaf, unable to hear a complaint, had to blame everyone else, but themselves… I will not have a bar of it… Will be going to centre management about a formal complaint. You do not treat people like they’re stupid or have the wrong store or they’ve got it all wrong, when I have absolute picture, (means physical proof) of what happened. That is a staff problem and something you have to deal with your stuff that is not my problem! Absolutely disgusting response do...

For young families, be sure to check out the kids menu, they will love you for it..( see photo ) UPDATE 13/08/2024 - I just love visiting The Shed Cafe at Westfield Woden, and to be greeted by the super friendly staff, especially my two favourites Alex and Anjeela. Like another very recent reviewer (K.N.) I've noticed a decline in this cafe. When I worked in Woden, I used to meet a friend there quite regularly for lunch. That was just before the pandemic. I took my daughter there today and was very disappointed. We both chose the Twisted Avocado dish and it was nothing like it used to be. Several of the listed ingredients were missing, the poached egg was overcooked and there was very little avocado. The meal was really just salad greens and a piece of toast plus the smoked salmon addition we'd both requested. The beetroot hummus was just a small smear on the plate under the toast. I did something I've never done before and requested a partial refund which I got. I thank the staff for doing the right thing.

Other issues: Most of the cups for water were dirty. The menu was missing from most tables like ours. The cutlery, salt and pepper and napkins were missing from several tables including ours. The bench seats need cleaning. It wasn't particularly busy but the food was slow to come out. The staff seemed uninterested in the customers and what they were doing.

I hope that the cafe can return to its previous standard; I'd like it to succeed. However I won't be returning...
