We went to the Old courthouse Fremantle for dinner last night, we knew the ratings were poor but thought to give them a chance. I wish we didn’t… Cocktails below average. Red wine was about 5 days old, undrinkable. We waited about 45min for a meal and it was not busy at all. We sat in the bar area because there was a smell in the main restaurant which I couldn’t place. It had the smell of wet sheep, maybe the polish the use on the floor. There was a fire pit outside but it was cold in the bar. We ordered sirloin steak and prawn sliders. The 2 prawn sliders had more coleslaw than prawn. Literally one prawn per slider. Now the sirloin was another story. It was ordered as medium rare, came out medium rare with sauce which I suspect comes from the saucepan they cooked it in. It was not red wine jus as stated. There were only 6 slim wedges of potato. The steak was tough and dry, solid! Not sure how a medium rare steak can be so dry. My partner never complains about any food but he lost the will to live trying to chew through this steak. The worse part was when he asked the waitress to let the chef know that it was possibly the worse steak he ever ate in his life, she offered him a free drink. What a disappointing night for a venue with such great potential. No second chances. Never...

Booked a table for 10 well in advance. On arrival we noticed table was much to small. They “created” a larger table near a fence with two chairs perched across dirt and a fire place making the sitting in those two places quite uncomfortable as the floor was completely uneven. .
Meals were served about 15 minutes apart to each couple, one seafood chowder was warm, when it should be hot. The couple that had organized it waited for their food so long that everyone had finished eating. Only then did I chase up the meal with the staff and was told “the kitchen was so busy but it was 5 minutes away” It wasn’t busy, it was mildly busy. Their meal took another 15 minutes to arrive and the seafood chowder was so cold it had to be sent back to the kitchen.
Most of the table ordered the “criminal cheese burger” and it really wasn’t great. I wonder if they call it “criminal” because of the $25 cost for an average cheese burger and chips.
The only redeeming quality was the live music but that is not enough to return.
I will say though that the staff were nice and you could see they were trying, I’m not entirely sure if it was a management issue, chef issue or...
Read moreWasn’t terrible but wasn’t good. Beer and wine we had was lovely, staff were super friendly and great service. Food was the down fall. We had the croquettes, arancini, dusted squid and salmon tartare. The croquettes needed seasoning they desperately needed salt and the blue cheese sauce was watery and thin wasn’t the thick luxurious sauce we were expecting. The arancini were too wet inside and the mushroom slices inside were too big for arancini. Both croquettes and arancini were over cooked or cooked in old oil. The squid was cooked beautifully but then rolled in a dry run that made the texture weird. All of these dishes came with a raw piece of kale on the side. The salmon tartare was good, but desperately needed a squeeze of lime over the top to cut through the olive oil and salmon, but apart from that this was a stand out dish. The sound of constant drilling and construction work at the new hotel next door the whole way through our meal was off putting and the fact of a Friday lunch in the middle of Fremantle and we were 1 of 2 tables in the whole venue should of told...
