One Star for Manager’s sub par service. Walk-in here tonight & asked for a table, the waitress said she had to ask the manager. The manager didnt even blink an eye and said there were no more tables for the rest of night even though I could clearly see multiple available tables.
I walked out the door & immediately went online to see if I could make an online booking & to no ones surprise, there were tables available to be booked.
I booked a table online & walked straight back in and told her the manager said there are absolutely no tables but I just booked one online. She then proceeded to sit us down.
The girls working the floor were absolutely lovely. Appalling attitude and service from the manager turning away a customer without even batting an eye even though he could take us in.
Shame as the food is actually good here.
To add, we told the manager of this after the meal & no apology was given & he got upset at me saying that the restaurant was actually at capacity and he should have turned us back out because he forgot to block out the online booking. But there were empty seats when we walked in & when I checked the booking system after our meal, there we still seats available to book for the night???? So if that is the case, then you should have exact number of seats in your restaurant & what, you were going to turn around every person that booked online? And you noticed the mistake when we were seated by a waitress then at that point did you not turn off the booking system?
All the manager had to do was apologise. But no, he fought back and got angry at us for eating at the restaurant.
To the owners response: thats not the point of my experience. The point was that there were online bookings available and i booked instantly and ate here before getting turned around. Manager should have owned up to his mistake and should have just apologised instead got angry at us for making a booking online. So, really then, he should have turned every online bookings away since you guys were at capacity.
Controlling the floor and capacity is a part of a manager’s job, but being at a service front, if you admitted to making a mistake then just own it, he didnt need to get angry at us for giving you money. GOOD for you guys for supporting an angry service personnel to quickly blame customers. We will never be returning here since you guys have the exact same...
Read moreDon't bother. What was good: it's a beautiful setting with the fairly lights, live music (although a tad loud), and the cocktails were actually pretty good. What wasn't adequate: everything else. We arrived at 6.15pm and were a table of 4. Ordered the set menu a few minutes later with some cocktails. Success - we got our drinks and trio of dips at 6.30pm. The drinks were good. The dip was ok - pumpkin one a bit like baby food. Value $20. At 6.55pm we got our next dish - jackfruit tacos (4 serves). It was ok. Their price is $32. The third dish came at 7.07pm, the cuttlefish. This was chewy but ok. Their price is $18 (one small dish between 4). The fourth dish came out at 7.49pm, after we asked where our food was. It was a plate of very small wings (8). Their price is $20. The fifth dish (potato) came at 8.02pm. It was a very small plate priced at $12. It has about 2 small-medium potato cut up. We asked if that was supposed to serve 4, and so they gave us a second plate (so their total value is $24). Final dish came at 8.51pm - beef checks, one dish at about $30. It was cold. Everything in the dish was cold. Like even the bottom/underneath. You could feel the fat. We couldn't eat it. According to their online menu, the$49 menu should have also come with chorizo. This is removed from the in house menu even though the price is the same. Based on the value of their dishes on their menu, the food was worth ~$144, but costs $196 for the set menu (for 4). Others not on the set menu ordered, got food and left whilst we waited. We also ordered tea, which took about 45 mins to come because they couldn't find their tea strainers. When it did come, it was really bad/weak. They obviously don't know how to make tea. Our empty drink glasses and plates weren't cleared for hours whilst we waited for food.
We got a discount and didn't get charged for the hot drinks or one of the set menus. But even so, as we didn't get an edible main meal (beef checks), don't think it was worth it, and all left hungry. Some of the food was ok, none of it tasty and all of it small, besides the bread served with the small dips, 2.5...
