Our wedding reception at the Gypsy Tapas House was amazing! The cuisine was more than excellent; it was exceptional, leaving our guests praising the flavors and presentation. The pricing was reasonable, and the atmosphere was electric, with a wonderful blend of ambiance and live music. We planned the event with Mark who was extremely accommodating and highly responsive which made planning stress-free, while John's friendly demeanour and extraordinary setup efforts exceeded our expectations. Lastly, a thank you to the waiters and bar staff; everyone was welcoming, engaged with guests and very attentive to everyone’s needs! This venue made our special day absolutely magical. We wholeheartedly recommend it if you are looking for a beautifully intimate reception!

Don't bother. What was good: it's a beautiful setting with the fairly lights, live music (although a tad loud), and the cocktails were actually pretty good. What wasn't adequate: everything else. We arrived at 6.15pm and were a table of 4. Ordered the set menu a few minutes later with some cocktails. Success - we got our drinks and trio of dips at 6.30pm. The drinks were good. The dip was ok - pumpkin one a bit like baby food. Value ~$20. At 6.55pm we got our next dish - jackfruit tacos (4 serves). It was ok. Their price is $32. The third dish came at 7.07pm, the cuttlefish. This was chewy but ok. Their price is $18 (one small dish between 4). The fourth dish came out at 7.49pm, after we asked where our food was. It was a plate of very small wings (8). Their price is $20. The fifth dish (potato) came at 8.02pm. It was a very small plate priced at $12. It has about 2 small-medium potato cut up. We asked if that was supposed to serve 4, and so they gave us a second plate (so their total value is $24). Final dish came at 8.51pm - beef checks, one dish at about ~$30. It was cold. Everything in the dish was cold. Like even the bottom/underneath. You could feel the fat. We couldn't eat it. According to their online menu, the$49 menu should have also come with chorizo. This is removed from the in house menu even though the price is the same. Based on the value of their dishes on their menu, the food was worth ~$144, but costs $196 for the set menu (for 4). Others not on the set menu ordered, got food and left whilst we waited. We also ordered tea, which took about 45 mins to come because they couldn't find their tea strainers. When it did come, it was really bad/weak. They obviously don't know how to make tea. Our empty drink glasses and plates weren't cleared for hours whilst we waited for food. We got a discount and didn't get charged for the hot drinks or one of the set menus. But even so, as we didn't get an edible main meal (beef checks), don't think it was worth it, and all left hungry. Some of the food was ok, none of it tasty and all of it small, besides the bread served with the small dips, 2.5 hours earlier.

We booked a table and staff were quick to seat us. After being given menus we waited forever for the staff to attend to us and we even seen them attending to tables that walked in after us. It wasn’t until we physically waved at the staff after waiting for 25 mins that they came over. The food was excellent. Came out quickly and promptly. It has nice flavour and wasn’t overcooked. Couldn’t complain about the food. The atmosphere was nice had a really cool small boutique band playing. Staff were rushing us to take the plates away once we’d eaten off them. Was a bit annoying. Bathrooms were also quite dirty. Overall wasn’t a bad experience but wasn’t perfect either

Came on a Friday evening and there was live music which set the mood for a lively encounter and start to the experience. Ordered some drinks and a good selection of food. Pretty good variety of drinks and washed it down with pretty tasty food. The portions are on the smaller side but then again the name of the restaurant has tapas so was expected. The food was all tasty and the gnocchi was very yum. Make sure you leave some room for the desserts. It’s as tasty as the entrees and mains. The churros was really good and the basque cheesecake was decadent. Service was attentive and was a good night out for a feed in Freo!!

Fabulous restaurant with friendly, helpful staff, tasty food and great ambiance. Though we arrived late into dinner service, we were seated and served promptly. The musician added to the atmosphere. He was amazing. Our food and drinks arrived and we were not disappointed. Very tasty and generous portions. High recommend and we will definitely be back😊

What a great place, the atmosphere was really fabulous, the lighting was on point 👉🏻 the music 🎶 was good. We had a large table of 25 celebrating 🍾 a 40th birthday 🎂 🥳. First time eating there for me, my wife, and my daughter. I'd definitely go back for a more intimate meal. The menu was great, fresh, vibrant, and tasty. Loved the alfresco experience. The staff were attentive and polite. We had the "Gypsy " tapas menu selection. The beef cheek and the duck fat potatoes were totally out of this world.
