Where do I begin?… Normally Varsity bar is a clean cut favourite place to go for a burger, wings, beers and a catch up with the boys. This is exactly what I did on my last visit to celebrate a close friend’s birthday. (Happy birthday Tuzz)
On arrival I ordered myself a Coke Zero, got back to my table only to find the Coke was not only completely flat, but it had been poured into a dirty glass with someone else’s lemon pips inside 🤮 to Varsity’s credit, I was able to have a fresh Coke refilled in a clean glass.
I wish this had been the end of the dilemmas, but alas, it was not… Our group ordered a number of burgers and wings. One by one the meals came out. I ordered a Texan burger for $24, and to my surprise it came without bacon and looked like it had been made by Michael J. Fox at the height of his Parkinsons. The burger was so sloppily made I pretty much had to put it back together myself at the table. Then I look across the table and see a friend with the same burger that looks 100x better.
Then everyone else started getting their meals… and when I say everyone else, I mean everyone besides my poor friend who had to go to the counter twice and ask for his meal numerous times, only for it to finally arrive once we had finished.
I normally would give this place a 4/5 stars but after tonight they just didn’t deserve it. I could handle the flat coke, but after the missed meals, missed bacon and sloppy burger they’ve sadly lost...
Read moreThis place has a nice atmosphere with the chattering and the many tv’s blasting the footy. So far i am still waiting on my food! I have been waiting for some time now, but at least i have my drink. I ordered the virgin passion fruit magic mojito mock tail. It tasted good, tasted like sour passion fruit. However, there was too much ice and there was purple stuff in the ice. I wish i took a picture of it while i could but, i unfortunately ate it. It tasted a little weird but nothing too weird, you know? Speaking about the ice, there was too much ice! I couldn’t even drink my drink because of how much ice there was. Moving on, i have ordered the spicy nachos because nothing else piqued my interest. So, while i am waiting on my nachos, i might as well tell you about my past experience here. Last time i had the Caesar salad and a lemon lime bitters. Not bad actually and my food came quicker, Although, back then the atmosphere was bad! Not anything to do with varsity itself but, the people i was with. Those loud, annoying kids drove me mad, they would climb the seats and yell, so cringe. I did not like that. I AM STILL SITTING HERE TRYING TO SIP FROM MY DRINK BUT NOTHING IS GOING IN MY MOUTH! oh yay, my nachos came. EDIT/UPDATE: my nachos were too spicy for my liking. Sure, i ordered spicy nachos knowing i hate spicy stuff but it’s still not my fault. The customer is always right. But overall...
Read moreIf I could give it less and 1 ⭐️ I would. Sadly disappointed with the service of the Varsity Fremantle team. Normally frequent the Nedlands Varsity and normally love it. Thought we’d give our local Fremantle varsity a go!!! Celebrated our daughters 14th birthday with a game of bowling at the new Fremantle Strike ( great fun) with 5 of her friends. We pre booked a table at Varisty for 12 o’clock and we were aware it would be busy as the UFC was being screened. My husband walked over to varsity ( at 12.15) to confirm our table was reserved and that we were finishing off our bowling game and would be there soon. So it was a little dissaponting ( actually a lot ) when we got there 10 minutes later to be told they were at capacity. So we stood outside, cake in hand looking at our empty table unable to enter and no real solution from the staff other than to wait ( as to how long????? No idea ) Why take our reservation ????? We ended up at a nearby restaurant The Little Seoul ( Korean restaurant) who were so accomodating, pleasant and went out of there way to make my daughters birthday a fun and enjoyable experience.
If Fremantle businesses want people to come back to Fremantle take a leaf out of The Little Seouls service and not...
