Food quality: if you want to try Peking duck, this restaurant is the must-go. Having visited almost all of the restaurants serving Peking duck, without doubt, it is the most authentic one. I am looking forward to tasting their other dishes of Shandong Cuisine which is one of the most famous eight Chinese cuisines, as the Chief is originally from Shandong province.

Service: it is a family business. You can clearly feel their passion, commitment and true love for food. The boss is the Chief as well as a super friendly and warm-hearted person. The whole family just follows his lead and can make you feel at home for sure. Please keep in your mind, due to the limited supply as it is a family business, they do not offer delivery service. If you want to try Peking duck or other popular dishes, a reservation is needed.

Location: Quite a convenient location, close to Surfer’s paradise and Southport. Easy to drive to. Having plenty of parking spots outside the restaurant. Also, you can have a nice view of the river in the restaurant, such an ideal place to have a nice dinner with friends and families, a quiet and nice place.

Price: definitely value for...

Wow. What a lucky duck we are to have found this place.

Clientele is a mix of happy diners. From local regulars to tourist, young families to mature groups out for a good meal.

Many reviews have mentioned that you must have the Peking duck. 2 course for $72. So make a reservation because walk in is almost impossible and the duck itself needs to be preordered to cater for a delicious meal.

The roast duck was fabulous. I have tried quite a few from Four Seasons in London to Forbidden Duck in Singapore. This could top them all. Skin is crispy. Meat is moist. Delicate balance of flavours. It was truly masterfully created.

It isn’t a dish for everyone. But the pork intestines was also very very good. Crispy and also flavoursome. The output of this kitchen is pure class.

Service. Not every Chinese restaurant is good on service. But Charlie Men’s kitchen is lively and friendly. A neighbourhood gem and I hope does not change because I want to have the same experience next time I come back. What a meal!

A very unpleasant experience.

I made a booking for 5:30 PM today (July 5th) and arrived on time. However, the hostess completely skipped us and instead greeted another group who arrived after us. Both my partner and I were stunned—how rude!

Only after that did the staff turn to us with a poor attitude and ask, “Did you make a reservation?” I said yes, but she didn’t even bother to check my name or phone number and just bluntly said there was no booking under my name. It looked like they had a private event today and assumed we were just walk-in guests, completely forgetting about individual reservations.

Last Saturday (June 28th), I called three times between 6:00 and 8:00 PM. The first two calls weren’t answered, which I understand since it might’ve been busy. On the third try, around 8 PM, a lady finally picked up and took my booking for 5:30 PM today (Saturday). I even reconfirmed over the phone that we’d be ordering one whole Peking duck and asked for a window seat.

It seems like they often have private events, so they don’t value individual diners. I do not recommend this place for regular customers, you might run into the same issue.

We left from our home at 4:30 to arrive early and waited outside until 5:30. Honestly, if it was just a mistake and they politely explained, it wouldn’t have been a big deal. But not only did they not apologize, they acted like we were being interrogated.

With that kind of terrible attitude, we’re never going back. I’ve also attached a screenshot proving I made the calls last Saturday.

We ended up going to Dragon Cove in Sanctuary Cove for Peking duck instead. Their service was excellent. Thankfully, they still had a table available! The photo shows the Peking duck we had that evening at there, was beautiful. I highly recommend you go to Dragon cove instead here if you want to avoid a disappointing experience like ours.

上週六晚上8:06撥打訂位的！我都清楚記得細節，ㄧ個女生接的，我們訂了一隻烤鴉，我還特地問，你們週六有開中午嗎？說沒有，我說那沒關係就晚上5:30，還確認了位置，我說可以安排靠窗的坐位嗎？小姐說：你們幾個人？我說兩個，她回那可以。然後到現場質疑我們記錯，怎麼不會是你們忙錄而漏記？顯示撥打電話的號碼是你們店家，時間是8:06pm 28/6，和你們通話ㄧ分鍾，打去一分鐘不是訂位，難道我們是打去找你們聊天的嗎？

我們不是第一次去你們餐廳，但之前去確實沒見過妳，我們ㄧ直都是訂5:30，我們第一個到，妳卻直接跳過我們，接待我們後面到的客人（妳認識的先進去？），不是熟客就不是客人了嗎？！？！我們明明有訂位卻遭這種次等待遇？並且堅稱我們沒訂位，請問誰還會笑笑的跟妳說話。

妳並沒有「從頭到尾」解決問題！而是ㄧ直推說沒有我的名字跟電話訂位，後來才問接電話是不是有點香港口音，我說是，妳當下就認了，有店員接了我們訂位但忘了記下，現在又辯解是客人自己記錯？！

然後ㄧ直到男老闆聽到我們爭執聲，才出來協調座位，我對男老闆協助的態度沒問題，但我們才兩個人，不想併10個人的大圓桌用餐，這樣吃飯起來非常奇怪。

而且妳也搞到我們沒心情用餐！明明就訂了位，沒提供訂位confirmation...
