Horrendous hostess. She pointed to us where our seat were. Without explaining how everything worked or how to get to our seats. We had to ask her “do we go through the restaurant or enter from outside? To sit there?”. No menu provided so we were left to figure out how we order our food/drinks. After 10 mins of confusion I went up to waiter who is extremely busy to ask him what do we do. I asked for a menu and how much the buffet is. We didn’t understand we had options for buffet or À la carte. Some family started at the buffet and literally every main dish was almost empty. Confused and hoped they will fill the food station with more food. They came back 15 mins later to the food station and still almost empty barely anything there. For $45 per person this is absolutely unacceptable. We were never informed the buffet was $45 per person. We would have walked out immediately as there was barely anything to eat. We blame the hostess for her terrible lack of communications. My husband said The signage at the entrance said $25 for buffet but never anywhere did is stipulate buffet was $45 dinner because they never gave us the menu or explained the process. We would never pay $45 for a spoon rice and 1 chicken wing. I am not kidding everyone had to try and share what was there because there wasn’t enough to feed everyone. I ordered to 2 dishes as I saw how bad the buffet was but after 30 mins it still hadn’t arrived so I had to cancel because the parties in our group who tried to have the buffet did not have any food at the station so we were just put off by then. Everyone was hungry. It’s laughable because at a buffet you shouldn’t be left hungry. Just fyi we are all slim and there at 6:30pm so food shouldn’t be running out at 6:30pm. Do better guys this has to be worse dinning experience...

Previous review Oct 2019:
Q: what should you do when you come across a #malaysianfood restaurant that has roti John and Ramly-style burger on the menu, but your wife wants the char kue tiaw? A: convince your wife that you need to order 3 mains for the family 😂
I've heard many good things about Kopitalk Coffee in Labrador (highly recommended on a Malaysian FB group), so when the opportunity came up to take a Gold Coast lunch detour on our way to Mt Tamborine for church camp a few weeks ago, it was a shoo in for first choice.
And a pretty good choice it was! Relished the opportunity to eat some of my favourite hawker foods - I went through a phase where I would try to eat a roti john every time I travelled to Singapore, and though Ramly burgers are a bit more elusive to track down, I can still recall the first time I had one in Malacca. So I quite enjoyed this meal, and I would totally go back except they're actually moving soon, so I'll have to wait for the new store to open (ETA Jan 2020) and plan a visit in the new year.
Our order: roti John, $8.90 - Malaysian famous hawkers' sandwich. Grilled hot dog bun with curry minced beef and potato filling wrapped in omelette. 'Ramly' style burger (beef option), $8.90 - Malaysian legendary street hawkers style burger. Grilled patty wrapped in thin omelette served on brioche bun with fresh vegetables, mayonnaise, and sweet chilli sauce. Penang char kue tiaw (chicken option), $12.90 - 'Penang' style stir-fried flat rice noodles with eggs, fish cakes, spring onions, and bean sprouts. teh...
Read moreWas pleasantly surprised to find a Malay-Malaysian restaurant in the heart of the Gold Coast in Surfers Paradise. The restaurant was set up indoor and outdoor seatings.
Prices are reasonable given the location and portion.
Would have given 5 stars (and then some) if not for the misleading advertising of their Beef Rendang, which they claim to be Rendang Tok. Literally the only reason I had ordered their Rendang (as otherwise I'm pretty good at cooking my own Rendang so I usually don't order them at restaurants) I have never quite been able how to cook Rendang Tok so I was absolutely elated to see it on the menu. Have never found any other place in Australia offering Rendang Tok in my 14 years living here. Therefore, my disappointment when the dish hit the table as it was immediately telling that it wasn't Rendang Tok was absolutely substantial.
Apart from this major issue, everything else including the different dishes I've tried (Nasi Kandar with Ayam Bawang was brilliant, Nasi Lemak was tasty although the sambal on the side was of incredibly tiny portion, Ramly Burger had a hint of that typical Malaysian street burger taste, and delicious Ipoh White Coffee) was pretty well done.
Again, heavily disappointed about the 'Rendang Tok' and the tiny sambal portion, but was happy with the quality of the...
