I'm not one to usually leave a review but unfortunately I feel this occasion warranted one. I would strongly suggest against dining here. Whilst the coffee was decent (nothing special) the service and food were horrible. When lining up to be served, the cashier (an older man) let another customer push in because he knew him, this instantly but a bad taste in our mouths. We ordered some breakfasts, a steak sandwich and a coffee, the wait time was around 20 minutes before we received anything (on a quiet Monday morning this seemed a little crazy). When our coffee and food arrived, the food was already cold, our poached eggs were hard and rubbery, the toasted Turkish bread was just warned up with a small drizzle of oil, the mushrooms looked and tasted as if they were 100 years old, the grilled halloumi was cold, the spinach? was unidentifiable. My partners steak sandwich had a rancid taste and the chips were that overcooked that there was no longer potato inside, just oil, YUCK! The cashier seemed to not be very approachable or even interested in customer or good service so we just left without...
Read moreThis place has sadly gone down hill since the new owners took over. Even the branding and menus have been down graded which is strange. Prices however have also gone down however I would prefer to have paid more for a decent meal and service. This cafe was very empty the last time we visited which was sad. Ordered the same dish I had for years (got smoked trout, flat bread, olives, scrambled eggs, labna) and a coffee. There were probably 3 other tables there. The coffees took over 20 minutes and the food took over 30mins. We did get an apology for the wait once the food was there but not before... it was a long time and they were very quiet. There were egg shells in the egg, scrambled egg was dry, food just not as good or fresh tasting as it used to be, which is a shame. Decent value though as the prices...
Read moreOk, the coffee is excellent here. Probably one of the best on the Coast.
I tried the eggs benny with the kofte - delicious and has a unique twist!
I've also tried the big breakfast many times - well-priced and a good variety and very delicious. I try not to go when its very busy (like weekend mornings) because 1, i personally dont like busy places and this place gets busy! and 2, the chef's timing can be a little off with cooking everything on the dish to the same "hotness" and "doneness" - i've noticed he can be under a bit of pressure when its that busy (and yet he still manages to smile and be kind to us as we leave). However, when we go there non-peak hour times, everything is cooked to perfection - delicious meal and way to start the day.
Service was...
